Mercer + 1st would be too much...but if you want Markstrom with retention you're going to have to overpay.

Honestly in the end Mercer + 1st + Vanecek for Markstrom (25% retained) would be looked back at as a win for both teams.

Then Flames could potentially also move Vladar to Philly if their rumoured interest is true.

I think Conroy should add a B prospect or anything he can to secure Mercer. Stromgren, a d prospect as we’ve really stock piled a bunch. The need is a young center. Add or do what you need to get that trade over the hump.

He stated after it was NOT about Markstrom, it was about another player.

The Kuemper trade was for a 1st round pick in 2022, a conditional 4th round pick in 2023 and Connor Timmins.

That is pretty close to the Devils' offer of Holtz and a 1st.

Markstrom for Mercer is closer to Schneider for 9th overall (Bo Horvat). Schneider was a superior asset being younger with lower salary / cap hit cost.

Markstrom for Mercer straight up is fair. If Conroy will drop the demand for the 1st and Devils give up Mercer, that should be the deal.

Which media member mentioned Pospisil's name being thrown around? I believe that was in regards to NJ.

My initial reaction to that was #### no! But then you think about Pissmissile's game style and his concussion history. Does he have a lengthy NHL career ahead without it being dismantled due to the playing style?

Center is the more important position and a need going forward for the Flames.

Still think Mercer + 2nd for Markstrom should be the deal and it's fair. With 50% retention, add Casey. This doesn't have to be rocket science.

Meier has produced at a 50 point pace since going to Jersey. devils would have to add at least a 1st round pick to get him off the books and eat some of the salary

Meier with 15% retention and the 2024 1st for the Flames 2027 7th round pick. Hope that a 7.5 million dollar Meier can rebound.

Then figure out what Markstrom is worth if they want Markstrom.
