Friedman obvious repeating some PR spin from the Flames. I highly doubt he believes this.

Yes, they are. 26 year olds with 29 NHL games under their belt are NOT prospects nor are they centerpieces for deals. Players like this are waiver wire fodder.

Exactly. Doing lip service to curry favours down the road.
Look, I don’t purport to know anything but if anyone said this guy would be Conroys target for Hanifin, as the centrepiece, they’d laugh about it. It’s highly risky and highly unlikely he becomes anything notable. If the Flames think they have a diamond in the rough when he’s 26 and no other teams have put enough value to get him out of the minors at this point. It’s a completely PR spin by Conroy or he’s delusional to put that much stock for a proven D, as your centrepiece.

After sleeping on this and praying on it, this isn't as bad as it first felt.
Hopefully Vegas trades that 1st asap.

Right....which is exactly what he said today.
Why anyone would automatically assume it came from the Flames only is just....strange to me.
Friedman is probably the one guy among all of that group that gets verification on stuff before running with it.

Friedman isn't the one making up the bull####... he's just passing it along.
C'mon... you really going to say that some 26 year old guy who thus far as been a NHL tweener was the "Centerpiece" of a deal (above a 1st round pick) for the top D-man on the market? And that a player worthy of being the "centerpiece" in such a deal who had "multiple" teams interested in him and was set to become a free agent would immediately sign a two-year low money contract?
No. That doesn't pass the common sense smell test. Friedman is just doing his job, passing along the information he's given... but the information he's been given and is passing on is pure baloney. It's just PR.

Regehr to Buffalo ... didn't have to make the move.
Iginla ... he was boxed in, and he was a UFA. Comparable.
There was talk that Sutter moved Phaneuf without talking to the league ... didn't have to make the move.
Hanifin to Vegas was done in a window with less than 2 days to expiry and a build up that took almost a year.
I can see a difference. If you can't fill your boots.

Don't forget Lydman, and Robert Svehla to a lesser extent. Those two chaffed my arse.
Am I, was I, disappointed in the return. Oh yes. Am I able to recognize that disappointment is 100% because of my own personal wants that were cultivated by the online rumors and reading (toxic) proposals on this board? Hell yea!
It's like looking at that present under the tree and convincing yourself over the week leading up to Christmas that it is the new Nintendo NES system, but it turns out to be pyjamas from that aunt in Rochester in a big box.
Auntie wasn't being an areshole, it was always pyjamas.

For what it's worth, Friedman said many teams were "disappointed" that they were unable to get Miromanov.

I think the Flames have a need that most teams don't. A semi-competent PP point shot. I have no idea about this guy, but the gloss of his shot makes it sound like he's a potential Anton Babchuk type. That would be a win obviously...

Let's maybe wait and see what a fresh start in a new organization does for him.

Must have looked at Hague's age on capfriendly (they're right together). Doesn't change they will both be in their prime and not going to fall off a cliff.

But they're not. They are their present ages. In 25-26 they will be 2 years across the board. Eichel will be 29, Barbashev 30, Karlsson and Stone will be 33, Pietrangelo will be 36.
Plus Vegas won't have $45M if Hague, Brisson, etc are still on the team because they will need contracts before that season.

Sharangovich and Kuzmenko have 5 of this team's last 7 goals. Give Conny a chance to work....all these folks on here who've never seen the guy play in a game and are instant authorities on the player's potential is odd but expected. Scorpion says the player has potential and has seen him play, I'm optimistic based on Conny's track record so far.

Honestly, for a guy who is just 'fodder', those are pretty solid numbers. Even 6 points in 14 NHL games is pretty darn good.

I've kind of warmed up to it as well. At very least, it gives us more opportunities in the draft which is never a bad thing. Was definitely hoping for more but after what Noah's camp did and if it's strictly a rental, then this is as good as it was going to get.

Well Conroy did not allow an asset walk to FA for nothing so that already makes him an improvement over Treliving.

Not only is a 2026 unprotected 1st > 2025 protected 1st, but if Vegas uses the 2025 1st to get a player like Guentzel it only increases the chances of the conditional 3rd becoming a 2nd.
