It's already burnt down...outside of a goalie, this team looks like a spare parts expansion team...

What I have said coincides with pretty much everything else that has come out in the media. I guess I am just still a bit shocked on the return for Hanifin but then again I also expected the Hanifin deal to come with an extension. It is hard balancing the emotions of being a fan as well as feeling like somehow I let the board down by passing along information about offers that didn't come to fruition. I am extremely confident the Flames do covet Mercer, I am fairly confident the initial offer included Holtz and a 1st, I have heard multiple things about why the deal went off the rails as has everybody else. I have heard about multiple packages but not in a while because as I said trying to get info on Markstrom has been a bitch to put it lightly. It has been a pretty emotional day as a fan and as someone who passes stuff along. Maybe Conroy knocks it out of the park, maybe Markstrom stays, maybe I will finally find out how they get the Caramilk inside the Caramilk bar. All I can put out there is what I hear but I have always said it is nothing concrete and everything should be taken with a grain of salt when it comes to these things. Looking back though I think I have done pretty decent for a guy who does not do trade rumours for a living and people have enjoyed talking about it which is the important part here.

I am actually of the opinion right now that the Flames should keep Markstrom. The offers aren't very good.
I like the point that Noodles made the other day - there will be teams in the playoffs this year that lose because of poor goaltending. Ullmark will be available in the off-season, but there will be more teams trying to improve goaltending than there will be available goaltending.
I also read somewhere that scoring has gone up and the average SV% has gone down over the last couple of years has been attributed to a bunch of really good goalies retiring. I hadn't thought of that.
At any rate, the market just hasn't been great. I wanted Markstrom to be traded now, but I would have to believe that if the offer was actually decent, it would have happened already. Just wait until the off-season.

Definitely move Markstrom
Return doesn't even matter. The team desperately needs to bottom out.

I noticed that myself. Price, Lundqvist, Rinne, all out of the league in a fairly short span of time. That leaves a sizable hole.

Why not?
He probably holds the most value out of the bunch.
This team is not seriously competing in the next few years and if they try to convince themselves they are, then they will just drag this negative process out further.
The earliest this team is going to be competitive is when this current crop of prospects beings to move into their prime( ~24/25), so were looking atleast 3 or 4 years out.
That's also an optimistic timeline if everything goes well and this group of prospects has some players hit their ceilings.

Still need to ice a roster and we only have 3 guys who can play top 9C minutes as is and although he is better suited on the wing you want to trade the most logical one to keep?

You don't owe us anything and you didn't let anyone down!
You don't control the market or what Conroy can or will do.
Share your insights and leave it at that.
You aren't to blame for anyone else's out of whack expectations.

You wanna take a chance with what Conroy is getting for a proven sniper? Nothing is guaranteed for any picks and unproven prospects. Sharongovich is the real deal. Let Connie savour at least this one accomplishment.

Markstrom. Ideally for Mercer.
Maybe Mangiapane if there is a good offer for his services.
In the off-season see if there is a market for Kadri. His recent play has won me over as a fan and if we can get a good hockey trade to send him to a competitive team then that would be a win/win.
Backlund, as a fan I would like to cheer him on in chasing a cup.
