Flames probably traded their 1st for Eichel as part of the deal. Problem is its the 2025 one which cascades into 15 different conditions and they can’t get anyone in from MIT on short notice to break it down into layman’s terms for Bettman

Im guessing it has to do with which team is doing the additional retention and what that will cost the Knights/Flames for doing so.

Could be a dozen different scenarios brewing.

Side note (but related to the thread) got in a minor disagreement today with a buddy who would rather take nothing for Hanafin and try for the playoffs vs a pittance such as a 5th rounder (if it got to that point of desperation). Always interesting to see the full array of opinions.
