It's tough being 11.5 back... the wildcard is still there but I think it's a bit early to sink money into a guy like Buehrle.

By the allstar break, if the Jays are right in the mix for the wildcard or within 8 games of the Sox, maybe look to add an arm.

Anyone have any idea what kinds of shortstops might be available near the deadline?

Quick game tonight with two fast workers who were on their game. I still love a good pitching duel like tonights game was. Pretty amazing that the Jays get two hits and they both leave the yard.

Don Taylor makes me want to punch him in the face even more.

Referring to A-Rod's "brilliant trickery" and claiming "Clark can't be fooled by that".

Great return for the Doc though - can't complain with a win any way it comes.

Yeah, there have been quiet rumblings for a while now that Buehrle is on the block. I've heard rumours that the ChiSox would like to "restock their farm system" a bit with a trade of him. Take that for what its worth, however.

I like Buerhle a lot, and he is walking on over to STL at the end of the season too. That is why the ChiSox are thinking of trading him, so he is a rental.

JP can't afford to be dealing prospects, when there are a lot of other teams ahead of the jays for the WC and the Division is pretty far out of reach, with one of the most complete teams in MLB holding it down.

Rios with a huge 3-run jack and it's 7-3 now.

Wells 2-2 now after pinch hitting - hopefully this is the spark he needs.

McGowan with another very good outting (7 IP, 3 ER). If not for a couple of bloop singles it could have easily been a 1 ER game.

Marcum gettin out of trouble in the first, nice...watching phillips struggle defensively in the first inning makes me really respect all that fasano has done in the past few games.

And how about that moustache?! Fantastic.

I also love the microphones at Rogers Centre. You hear everything, including every word in an altercation. Sure makes for great entertainment.

Marcum leaves the game with a stiff back. Overbay leaves with a hand injury.

Huge bases clearing double by Lind to give the Jays a 4-3 lead just two innings after he left the bag early on a tag-up (ending a possible, two-on and two-out situation).

Hopefully the pen can hold on.

6 innings of 1-hit scoreless ball from the bullpen. Great outting by all four guys.

Let's just hope Marcum isn't seriously injured. It's a back injury which is probably better than an arm or shoulder injury.

3 games at home against the D-Rays now and a great chance to jump above .500.

Halladay/Sonnanstine (rookie making his first start) is a must win.

Ohka/Kazmir will be tough, but if the Jays bats can finally wake up we have a shot.

Burnett/Jackson is another must win. Jackson is 0-7 with a 7.77 ERA and 1.96 this year.

How the hell is somoene with 7Ls and an ERA in sight of 8:00 still in majors, even just a close approximation of a Major League team?

Well probably for the same reason Tampa Bay is still in the league. Everyone forgot about him/them. Seriously is there a more pathetic franchise in sports than the Devil Rays? Every year they start out with the goal of not being last in their division. At least a team like the Royals used to be good once upon a time ago.

Kind of Ironic that 2 of the former D-rays pitchers they brought to the majors and had fail (too early I might add in both cases), Gaudin and Kennedy would be the #2 and #3 starters for them, as they are both pitching great in Oakland.

Gaudin sure looks bad on JP too, given that he is one of the ERA leaders in the AL. Kennedy is another case because he was actually involved in a 3-way deal with the blue jays, where the Jays got Speier for Hendrikson and Colorado received Joe Kennedy.

So there is your Blue Jays connection.

Im watching the Yankees-Red Sox series right now. Does anything really compare to this series? Even when the Yankees are 10+ games back, it's still huge.
