Defeats the purpose of loading up for a run.

Picks and futures, and prospects that aren't yet playing regularly on the team? Yeah, you can extract those for a great return. But the Mercer/Lundell type fan speculation is likely to just disappoint the fan base when the trades go down.

Do you also think Holtz is a pipe dream for Markstrom?

I think he'll be a very reluctant add by Jersey and is only in play because they've been so frustrated with his play away from the puck in his development.

That's why you put draft deferral to 2027, if Tampa has a high pick or wins lottery, Calgary gets their 2027 1st round pick, gives some power back to Tampa, but at least Calgary gets a 1 st round pick, and could be high in either year, depending on how Tampa performs, otherwise walk away and trade him as a rental, even if it means a little less of a return

Either way, the only way a trade happens with Tampa Bay, a 1 st round pick has to be coming back to Calgary
