Theatre Calgary, Broadway Across Canada etc
Broadway Across Canada just announced their 2024-2025 line up.
Come From Away (Sept. 17-22, 2024)
The Book of Mormon (Nov. 26-Dec. 1, 2024)
Beetlejuice (Jan. 7-12, 2025)
Tina (March 18-23, 2025)
Six (May 20-25, 2025)
Riverdance 30 (June 27-29, 2025)
Disney’s The Lion King (July 30-Aug. 17, 2025)
Snagged a pair for Book of Mormon. I’ve seen it twice but it never fails to entertain. Think I’ll try and grab tickets for Beetlejuice and Lion King when they go on sale.

I’ve also recently been to theatre Calgary to see Steven Martin written show Meteor Shower. It was pretty funny and we’re thinking of going to see As You Like It. Beatles/Shakespeare mashup. Pretty good bang for your buck at $40 for main floor seating.

Feel free to share anything else that doesn’t quite fit in the concerts, movies or comedy threads.

I don't know how difficult it is to get these tickets but if anyone is interested AMEX has a presale package offer going on until tomorrow evening at 10pm. It includes tickets to Lion King, Beetlejuice, Six and Tina. It looks like tickets go from $205 to $620 per seat.
If anyone without an Amex card is interested I could potentially place a purchase for you. Just send a message and we can try to get things figured out.

If you like South Park, you like Book of Mormon.

It really is! Highlight for me was the family of four sitting ahead of me and looking at the parents at the intermission! I have no idea what they were expecting, but they looked mortified.

It's so good, and it's so funny seeing folks - who I have to assume are older Mormons - leave the Jube who didn't know what it was about (I've seen in twice, and both times, people have left in a huff)
My LDS friends my age and younger laugh at certain references the rest of us don't get

In a lot of ways it pushes further than the cartoon ever could. I remember thinking while I was watching, "oh yeah, a play doesn't really have censors".
It's amazing. A must see if you can.

I don't know how Ticketmaster makes seats available during presale, but the seating selection is terrible right now.

Well if you have seasons tickets you get first crack at a couple of those (Come from Away and Book of Mormon), so presumably they can't release those until later.

Just renewed my Broadway Across Canada tix! Been going for several years now, nice activity couple times a year, especially on Sunday nights to close out the weekend. Looking forward to the upcoming lineup (Beetlejuice especially)!

Book of Mormon had excellent selection when I looked yesterday. But as neither a subscriber or Amex holder they withheld ticket access to the bigger shows. Lion King, Beetlejuice, Six and Tina weren’t on the list. It was only letting me buy for the other shows.

How did you get tickets ifyou aren't either of those? I can't see anything but Hairspray when I'm signed in.

I'd been tempted to get a pair to Beetlejuice, but I looked up some of the music on YouTube and it just didn't interest me.
Gonna try to snag a pair to go and see Lion King, though.

I've been to a few Broadway Across Canada shows over the years and was interested in the season ticket package. But the dates don't work great for me for a couple of the shows, so maybe I'll just try for individual shows.
Saw Lion King and really enjoyed it. Heard mixed reviews though.
Everyone told me Book of Mormon was amazing and I was a bit underwhelmed. Maybe because too much hype ahead of time.
Saw Come From Away the first time it came through Calgary and loved it. Will definitely go again if I can get tickets.
Didn't see Meteor Shower at Theatre Calgary, but I'm going to As You Like It in a couple weeks. I love a good mash-up, so Shakespeare and The Beatles intrigues me.

Book of Mormon is amazing! I've seen it 3 times already. and way better than South Park. It's more like an x-rated Frozen. Same song guy.
I think I might take my 11 and 15 year old this time.

If you can try and snag 8 of your friends to go, buy the group tickets. I've been doing that for about 12 years now and you get great seats and cheaper pricing.

U of C alumni get early access or a presale or whatever you want to call it. But no Saturday night for Book of Mormon. All other times are available though.

BOM is even funnier if you are familiar with the LDS.
I'm not religious but worked with a lot of members and appreciated it even more!
I'm really looking forward to Six as I've heard great things. I thought for sure we'd be getting Back to the Future and/or Clue this year. Oh well, great line up.
