Hearing TB has offered their 2026 1st, Howard, and their 3rd pick in 2024 draft for an extended Hanifin. If that is accurate that would be a decent haul if things with Florida don't get done.
I think that's a pretty poor return. I don't think Howard is a player that should get the team excited. Another small LW? Guh. That 2026 1st rounder is still going to be bottom of the barrel IMO. The Lightning still have lots of core pieces to be strong for another five or six years. Picks isn't great and the 3rd this coming draft is not going to hold a ton of value either. I would hope the Flames can do better than this.

Don't have that info but if I had to guess it will be protected, everybody protects nowadays, especially with a pick a couple years down the road.
No doubt. So many posters want unprotected firsts. Rarely do firsts go unprotected nowadays. Especially 2+ years down the road
Yes, I know we just got one from the Nucks but they were first in the league at the time and the odds of them even missing the playoffs were really low.

Thanks Diss!
Honestly, I’d be very happy with that return… especially considering everything that has gone on to lessen Hanifin’s value despite him having a fantastic season. Any first round pick is very valuable but I think that 2026 first round pick could end up being a really good pick. I’m sure there would be lottery protection but that’s fine… ever since San Jose traded a first round pick that became Stuetzle for Karlsson… and Ottawa traded a first round pick that became Byram for Duchene… it’s really tough to trade for any first round picks that are more than a season away that are not lottery protected.
These rumours have been so much fun to follow, but man can we please get all this over with already? CP has taken over my life over the last three weeks, not that I'm exactly mad about that though.

And I know people get tired of hearing it every single time, hell even I think it's overblown, but I'll be the one to say it.
Unsigned US college guy. Still terrifies me

That’s a hilarious interview. Don’t know much about his play but he is pretty universally ranked as the lightning’s top prospect. May not be much of a high end prospect overall but he’s pretty much be all they have to offer.
Outside of being a winger and a position that the Flames really don't need to add to, Howard's a good player.
It just flies in the face of things that Conroy said himself he was targeting. Namely a cost controlled C .
It'll be fine if that's all they can get given what Hanifin has given them to work with but I've always hoped Hanifin would have worked with the Flames as opposed to hamstringing them in potential landing spots.
I still hope Sec214s info is true and that the Oanthers are the real player here and TB is just a smokescreen.
Lundell or death.

This is great it means the offers potentially get better from here. Wait til FLA finds out TB made an offer for a signed Hanifin. Florida you are on the clock, Hanifin may not be there at free agency now.

I agree that it's whelming at best. But it's a baseline now, and hopefully things can improve from there. And there has been a lot of chatter about soft returns for Hanifin, so I was getting a bit nervous. If this is what transpires, it isn't terrible.

I wonder if Hanifin is in on this and they just put the "prefers Tampa" story out there to pressure Zito. Because it never made sense to me to be all for one part of the state of Florida, and against the other. And him and Chucky are tight.
