There was a question mark after the 3 X $4.5... let's not turn more speculation into 'facts'

LOL.
Some teams develop good rooms and others don't. Team affiliation therefore has a lot to do with it. Oilers and their fans have nothing to say about room chemistry, after their team has gone out of their way to bring a-holes into the room. Period.

Fair enough, wasn’t meaning to convey it as fact but obviously reads that way lol
What I should say it’s at least known that the flames are interested in bringing him back, Tanev said he’d be willing to consider it too in his interview with EF. Terms/AAV at this time though are for sure speculation.

The chances of them making it are what, like 10 percent? The highest value he has is at the deadline and he is already 34 years old. Holding on to him for that reason is an awful move IMO especially with no salary retention now.

As Sec14 mentioned apparently the return offered is poor right now.

New Jersey is motivated to fix its goaltending once and for all, and as I reported last Friday, the Devils have told the Flames they’re ready to take on the contract without any salary retention. But Flames GM Craig Conroy worries about ripping the heart out of his dressing room if he moves his goalie.
|
Conroy is worried about ripping the heart out of the room if he trades someone from a team that is out of the playoffs? Sounds pretty fragile to me.

He's worried about unneccesarily taking too much leadership away all at once, when he doesn't need to. He took one leader away last week.
"Ripping the heart out" is all hyperbole and made up anyway. He never said anything like that I'm betting.

You have no idea what our room or the Oilers' room is like. I would like to point out the last time the Flames made a cup run the team was filled with #######s and continued to go out of their way to bring in other #######s after that success. So to suggest that anyone team has the recipe to the perfect room, or one team has an ####### problem over another, that's just stupid.

That doesnt make them fragile.
You rip the heart out of anything....it dies.
So is everything fragile in your world?
What the concern is, and should be considered, is what effect it has on the remaining players, many of whom are young guys that you are trying to groom for future success.
It doesn't mean you dont make the trade at all, but there is so much more that goes into this type of trade than "X for A, B, and C"....do it!
For every action there is an equal (and sometimes more in this case) and opposite reaction.
There are just a lot of things to consider and already have been without a doubt.

How long did it take to find a capable goalie after Kipper?
They shouldn't trade Marky in a spur of the moment decision. You're not only sewering a team fighting for playoffs now, but for the foreseeable future.
Not a decision to be made lightly.
Down the road the Flames might be in the Devils position. Although if I were them I would just pony up. And would've done so three weeks ago. Fitz let a season and playoff run with his core intact go down the drain for poor reasons.
There is no world where Fitz can bring in the right goalie while keeping all his good young players Devils.

Heres where the Markstrom rumors fall upon themselves.
Flames agreed to deal Markstrom, Maloney on behalf of ownership nixed it.
New Jerseys offer wasn't good enough and it never got done.
Markstroms pissed because he thought he was traded.
And things aren't being dealt with in the best way.
GM is scared to Rip the heart of the room.
Nothing adds up. Therefore, nothing is right.

I have a pretty good idea what a room with the likes of Kane, Perry, Draisaitl, Nurse and McDavid is like thanks. And Keith, Smith, Kassian etc in the past.
The last time the Flames made a cup run they had Iggy, Kipper, Conroy, Gelinas, Reg, McLennan, Yelle... who were the a-holes? Simon? Pretty minimal add. What leaders did Sutter evict?

I think we would but genuinely surprised to learn how often media insiders are fed specific narratives by GMs/agents/whoever to push a storyline that benefits that party.
I know Friedman has talked about that in the past and how he doesn't like being used when the story isn't a fair representation of the truth. Probably not a stretch to imagine Seravalli is being fed specific NJ narratives to put the blame on the Flames given the stories don't line up at all.

It's already dead, i.e., missing the playoffs. Should we throw a parade for them missing the playoffs but being happy that the heart is in the locker room?

So you thought for yourself and concluded that LeBrun made it up? I've never talked to anyone in sports media or anyone with the Flames. I just go off what's reported, and this isn't the first time we have heard about Conroy being hesitant to trade Markstrom because of "feelings in the room".

He never said feelings in the room. He said rip the heart out, it's just an expression. And it doesn't imply that anyone is fragile.
You are misreading what he said, and assuming something that isn't there.

So your entire argument on trading any player has nothing to do with the effects on the rest of the team but only if the team is making the playoffs in that particular year??
I guess Bedard should be available then!! (This is response to the asinine parade comment)

Lets not forget Conroy was on the receiving end of being dealt to Calgary and left in Red Deer by Kings, I'm sure he's well aware of implications of trades to the player and the team(s) and family. It's a balancing act of doing your job but not being a d!ck to people.
That will pay off down the road with players evaluating whether to come to the Flames.

Well don't leave the poor soul in Red Deer. Trade him in a dignified manner.
