To be honest, the Flames management group over the years have been over loyal to the players. It hasn't garned anything extra in terms of loyalty in return.
It's good the organization cares for their players but it's a performance based business, and even with the lights out play of markstrom, the standings say their performance isnt up to snuff.

It's like a company that's run up their debt, lost 18% of their share price in 3 years, pared back their dividend, is below average in their industry, realizes it, wants to turn things around, and is trying to get the "beloved" $6MM COO out the door.
What about the boardroom? Will someone think of the chemistry in the boardroom? Imagine the woe!
I blame Tre and those freaking NTC/NMCs that he was handing out like candy…
Not a fan and never will be.
You’re under contract with one team and they are paying you to the last cent, week in and week out every year for the duration of your contract no matter how you perform.
Why would you give players an opportunity to dictate where and when they can be traded?
Never made sense and never will. Tre was worse than anyone ever made him out to be.

Man, I'm really struggling with that NHL network video. What specifically have the Flames done wrong by their players? Historically, the Flames have treated their players very well.
Seems like a lot of jumps to conclusions in that video, especially by Weekes.

To each his own. I'll say what I want to anyone who will listen!
My employer is a complete jerk, he overworks and underpays me, and he doesn't have a goddam clue how to run his business. And I can say that with impunity, because if he fires me, the whole operation is toast.
Did I mention that I'm self-employed?
For a minute there I thought you were Locke's intern.

Again, that’s not just a Treliving or Flames thing.
NMCs/NTCs
CGY 9
DAL 9
WAS 9
DET 12
STL 10
MIN 11
NYI 10
Most players on $4 mil+ contracts in the NHL today have NMCs/NTCs.

Fitzgerald not trading for a goalie is baffling. They should be doing virtually whatever it takes to get Markstrom.
It really is baffling for how close the deal seemed. Lot of Devils fans angry at Fitz for not getting something done.
Quote:
This is pure vile stats. Fitz has failed to help this team goaltending wise and has let them drop the playoffs by his inactivity. Idc if hes smart, he has failed this team.
Quote:
He held up the Markstrom trade because he wanted Calgary to retain. The instant Calgary said they were keeping Markstrom Fitz came crawling to them saying he'd take the trade without any retention. Here we are with another goalie loss. Huge blemish on Fitz' reputation not getting a goalie
Quote:
Why does this team still have 3 goalies all under 9.0 save percentage. Management needs to take all the heat for failing to help this team with their main problem.
Quote:
Honestly F*** IT. Get Markstrom and give them WHOEVER THE F*** THEY PLEASE. Nobody on this team is worth a DAMN
Quote:
4 goals on 14 shots and people don't want to trade for markstromm.... smh
Quote:
Gotta be honest, I know Fitz has been trying but it blows my mind that he didn't trade for a goalie two months ago. This last goal was not on Daws but if we had a legit #1 this team would be in the playoffs, that's not even debatable. At this stage of the season I don't even want to give up assets like Holtz for a goalie, but if it was two months ago then yeah

Another goalie loss on the way

Whether you want Markstrom or not Fitz holding out on the trade based on retention and then turning over and pushing for the same deal without retention once Calgary says they're keeping him sums up the season

Fitz needs to man up and get a goalie. Stop low balling teams and fix this atrocious goaltending
