Thought this tool is interesting https://puckpedia.com/CapRelief
50% of Markstrom's contract is worth a 1st round pick that is 27th OV
25% if Markstrom's contract is worth a 2nd round pick that is 40th OV

That's one of the rumors.
Another is Conroy wants Mercer and New Jersey is offering Holtz. Getting Holtz might still be good but if Mercer is the guy he wants he doesn't have to settle for Holtz since Markstrom isn't a UFA.

No!

Better add: Did anyone ask Marky if he wants to go and will waive?

Not going to lose hope until Friday after the deadline. Please trade Markstrom.

You've posted about this a couple of times now. FYI, there were reports that Markstrom is fine with a trade. There was a report that he was specifically fine with a Jersey trade. There was a report that he thought he wasn't coming back from the eastern road trip.
The view that he isn't going to waive has sailed long ago.

Lebrun just said on TSN that NJ phoned Calgary a couple days ago - let them know that they are still interested in Markstrom, if Calgary was still interested. Said there might be concern from Calgary about how deflating that would be, but something to keep an eye on
Said NJ is still willing to make that trade from now to the deadline

Calgary has traded Toffoli, Zadorov, Lindholm and Tanev. It makes no sense IMO to keep Markstrom for the season. Calgary is 7 points out and has 23 games left. It’s unlikely they make it this year. If they aren’t getting what they want in a trade that’s 1 thing but “sending a message” to the players doesn’t make sense when the aforementioned players plus Hanifin will likely be dealt. Calgary should be rebuilding and they started that process.

That is not the messaging that I recall (none of which, also IIRC came from Marky...just others). He is, after all, in the drivers seat, has a 1 year old baby and may also be suffering his own form of fatigue from all this and would rather just deal with it in the summer.
Now that may or may not happen, but reality seems to be that none of us know how he feels about it atm. I'm all for it if the Flames get a bonus haul...but to get a meh return...well...meh.
And NJD needs to weigh whether trying to get him now...for 3 potential runs at a Cup is worth more to them than doing a summer deal and going for 2 potential runs. Conny can try, and offer and see...but his hands are also somewhat tied. He's not likely to give Marky away to someone who won't pony up when there's no need to trade him now, or at all.

The message might not just be to try and make the playoffs this season. It might be that he believes in them beyond this season.
Players are going to understand Conroy having to trade all of the players you mentioned. They're UFAs. Trading their starting goalie who has another two years left is going to be more deflating to them.
Some fans won't and don't have to like it but it's obvious from the comments Conroy has made he wants the team to compete and doesn't want losing to be ok.

This is all very true. Like it or not Markstrom makes the Flames better when he's playing like this. Plus he could be a solid mentor for Wolf, seemed to work for Demko in Van anyways.
Sure would be nice to know for sure what NJ officially offered for him though.

I would be all for keeping Markstrom if he was 31 or 32.
He's 34.
There is absolutely zero reason to keep him.
Anything besides a trade is pure foolishness and shortsightedness on the Flames part. Frankly who cares about the last 23 games of the season. They aren't making the playoffs. Do what's best for next year and beyond. A 35 year old goalie isn't going to cut it.

I also want to trade him so he has a true shot at winning a cup. The Devils could be that chance for him, whether it’s this year or in the summer. Safe to say that if he goes there, almost every flames fan will be Devils fans for the next few years

And did better after they left
now I think Tanev/Hanifin is a different story but credit where credit is due to the guys in the room and all the callups and waiver pickups who have played great
