I can’t see any team trading a first round pick 2+ years out that is unprotected.

What do you think about Mangiapane's return if we trade him at trade deadline? Or is he more likely moved during off season. I think Pelletier can play with Coleman and Backlund so if Mangiapane is traded.
Personally I think his return will not be high unless he packaged with Markstrom or Hanifin.
So may be 2nd is maximum?

Dowd, Mantha and others in the rumor mill for Washington. Apparently the Caps are wanting a 1st for Dowd.

Would all depend if the Flames eat cap imo. I don’t think he’d get much at full cap

Washington is a weirdly constructed team, they have a bunch of guys in their mid to late 30s and a bunch of guys in their early 20s. There's not a lot in between. They also are very light on LD, as almost all play RD naturally.
Lapierre or McMicheal would be a pretty good get. They are not giving up Sandin as the only LD on the team. They also have a bunch of random players that are stuck in no-man's land because of the group of old players ahead of them.
Lapierre, Iorio and 2025 1st (when the Caps have three 2nds that year) make that a 2nd if Hanafin doesn't sign

2nd round pick probably.

Yup, more likely in the offseason I wager when teams have cap to burn.

... Backlund and Coleman play defensively hard minutes against tough competition, I wouldn't want to throw Jakob Pelletier with all of 30 NHL games under his belt into that hot of a fire. I think I'd rather put Pelletier into the spot Pospicle is in now but I suppose Playing with Backlund elevated Tkachuk and Mangiapane so I dunno... maybe? I suppose you could try it and hope he doesn't get spanked by the comp.

His value is his value. He's a defensively responsible wing who pushes the play in the right direction and can chip in offensively... he costs a pretty penny thou. I think you could get a 2nd for him (might have to take a bad contract back or eat some cash thou).

I would love to see Pospisil with Backlund and Coleman. It would be great to see if Pospisil could grow into a strong PK player with his quickness and grit.

Miroshnichenko? We dont need wingers but I'd make all sorts of room and time for him in a Hanifin trade.
Dream Big.

That would likely be the starting point of any Flames ask with Washington if I had to guess

Detroit looms large in my Hanifin radar.
Yzerman is gonna swing.

As someone who watches the caps a lot, McMichael would be a great get. He's been stuck behind Kuzy and Backstrom for the last couple years but is now starting to break out with the opportunity. Act fast Connie

Jeff Marek also said the Flames might target a cheap defensemen as a target.
I wonder who could be cheap that would be an upgrade on Gilbert/Oestrele.
I wouldnt mind trying for Boqvist, I think he could go for a 4th

or bring back Troy Stecher for a low pick
he did great for us and would be an upgrade on that Gilbert/Oestrele slot

Wonder why Cristall wasnt taken till 40th last year, seems like a great pick for Washington. Obviously a fairly deep draft year.
