Have to say… Fitz is an idiot. They’re likely too late now but had he paid the price for Markstrom 2-3 weeks ago and had his .935 save percentage over that time, think they would either be in a playoff spot by now or within a couple points. Really foolish on his part.

This was almost done, didn't get done. I was shocked too. Probably revisit in the summer, unless Conroy changes his asking price.

Any thought on if the Holtz, 1st, Casey package was ever actually offered...or is that the ask?

Public knowledge:
1. Couture has a 3 team no trade list and won’t waive. Wants to remain in San Jose.
2. Hertl is injured and the Sharks hadn’t asked him to waive prior to him getting hurt.
What I found out through someone in the Sharks organization:
1. I mentioned a few weeks ago about Mario Ferraro and teams having interest. Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto had shown varying levels of interest. Sharks aren’t actively shopping him but teams called. A 2nd was on the table for him.
2. Kappo Kakhonen. 2-3 teams have inquired about him. Not sure of all the teams who checked in but Colorado had initial conversations. Has a 0.905 save percentage on an awful Sharks team.
3. Mikael Granlund is the player recieving the most interest. 5-6 teams have inquired on him already but not enough for the Sharks to trade him yet.

Kahkonen would be a sleeper acquisition. I think he could be insanely good on a contender.

A 2nd on the table for Mario Ferraro...hmph.
I just really, really don't see the upside in Ferraro that others do and I've watched him closely in quite a few games over 2 years.

Very nice hearing about Conroy not cracking under the pressure on an asset he need not move right now. Be patient, get what you want for a top goalie in NHL and if your asking price isn't met, revisit later. Guy's got another 2 seasons left for you to try again if that's what you want to do.

a 2nd for Ferraro means Tanev should get an EASY 1st, he's a knock off version of Tanev all be it younger...

Even if Ferraro got a 4th rounder (which I think is what his current value is) or a 3rd (which is what I think his max upside value is) Tanev is still worth a 1st in my books.
Too many GMs are substantially overvaluing M. Ferraro.

Well, if Hanifin is off to a Florida team I'd prefer they do it now so we don't have to have fresh emotional scarr8ng of seeing him play his first game against us.

Flames literally hold all the cards when it comes to quality in the trade market. The Trump cards. There's a reason teams haven't gone and gotten other players yet, they're still in on the Flames assets

I know you can't always time a trade, but my guess is if they are going to do one it's got to be either tomorrow or not until Sunday.
Headlines this week and weekend in Flamesland, deservedly so, should be all about Kiprusoff and his impact on this organization for a decade. This man almost won us a Stanley Cup and how many seasons of 70 starts? And, he's not the type of alumni that's around town and you see him every season, he may not be in Calgary again for a decade or more. The man deserves the spotlight even though he doesn't want it.
Conroy knows this though, and if he brings in a self imposed roster freeze for 3 or 4 days so the focus is on Mikka, it can only wetten the appetite of some GMs.

I can’t really see it unless a deal is already agreed too and they are waiting on the fax to the NHL. He can’t miss out on a trade over a jersey retirement

Time for Craig to start the ‘circling back to the other offers’ portion of the show.

Mikka's jersey retirement won't be dampened by any trade, nor should it hold up any trade.
Craig would have his blessing every day of the week.

He's waited this long and been patient.
Not as if the Flames play for 3 days, so any players the Flames are moving on, aren't at risk of injury.
Teams have to come to him, and he can set the timeline. Any " if you don't do the trade Friday we are walking as we can't wait 48h until Sunday" lines from other GMs are BS.
