Default New use for 90m Ski Jump

A sky line!!

Partnering with Skyline Adventures based out of Whistler, B.C., Canada Olympic Park is delighted to bring this leading-edge technology to Calgary. You will ride in a comfortable harness and fly down a unique cable system, reaching speeds between 120 and 140 km/h. Calgaryıs highest vantage point, the 90-metre ski jump tower at the Park, provides a jump line that is 500-metres long with a vertical drop of more than 100 metres.
Cost is $49/trip, but sounds like money well spent

theres a 1 hour instruction before the run, and its a huge let down. Yet another failed COP scam.

Have you done this? (just asking, as it looks pretty cool!)

How can there be an hour of instruction before hand?
It's a zip line that I am guessing is attached to a harness that you are strapped into. Not much different than any ride at the stampede.

they make it into an hour long thing so they can justify the huge cost. There's a small 'practice' zipline at the bottom of the hill they put you on to 'train' you for the actual one. COP = Worst run business in the city.

EDIT: I completely sound like a disgruntled employee.

That sucks, the concept is great, I love ziplines. I took the kids I volunteer with to one at a camp in southern Alberta and they all loved it, sure they were scared to start with but once you push them down the first time, they're hooked. Ziplines are wicked! And it took me less than 10 minutes of 'instruction' to get them ready to go, and that includes getting them into the harnesses.

Hopefully they change this so it works out better. And yeah, Juventus, I gather you wont be writing any "COP is awesome" testimonials in the near future....

Locke.

Was that Camp Impeesa by Table Top mountain by any chance? I was there in 1994 (?) and did the zipline over the lake. Ton of fun, however I rode it to the end and the sudden stop was not the best thing to do. Not sure on why a hour instruction time is needed for this COP one. This isn't skydiving afterall. Is it perhaps a requirement for insurance purposes?

Insurance fine, but an hour?? That's crazy. 10 minutes 15 tops for all the safety instructions you need.
Strap in, check harness, put hair in pony tail (for the long haired), go.
Done, next!

Absolutely. That zipline is a blast! I volunteered as a cub leader for three years (I just recently stopped), and I always made sure the group went there for the end of year camp. The kids love that zipline, it doesnt matter what the weather is like, or anything else, as long as they get to zipline it makes their entire year, and that makes it totally worth it for any volunteer. Pure joy.

I used to go there when I was a kid and I made sure they got to go and have fun there too.

My favorite zipline ever was a one just outside of Peurto Vallerta Mexico. That thing put you so friggin high in the air by the time you were over the river, it was insane. The best part is the Mexican workers employed there. ........ "Okay, you can go........ waiiiiittttt Siirrrrrrrrrr, I forgot to put your strap on, ha ha ha, you would have fallen to your death as soon as you let go, ha ha ha"
