Imagine complaining about the presence of Zendaya in a movie.

Have you see TOS episode Space Seed? It's kind of the origin of Khan. Worth watching too.

Another old classic last night - 8 1/2 Federico Fellini.

Quite remarkable, especially for its time. Some shots had me curious how they pulled it off with the tech of the day. Also just a really interesting structure that I didn't really expect from the time period. Would fit in with things like Nolan's work with the way it plays with time and mind. Comments on ego, hubris, pressure, love, treatment of women, inner dialogue. Awesome performances. Recommend.

I've sadly never seen a single episode of Star Trek, my Trek knowledge as of right now is the first 2 movies and the JJ Abrams latest trilogy. It's an area that I'm working on fixing, it's a gigantic blind spot in my sci Fi repertoire

Don't forget the Kelvin-verse, I actually like all of those. Beyond is a criminally underrated movie in general.

Beyond is a silly movie. The Kelvin-verse needs to go away. It was just an excuse to re-hash actual good sci-fi stories as action fantasy movies set in space. I think most people forget what real sci-fi is.

Tenet is a real anchor on that Nolan list. The rest are great. Two "must see" directors

Villeneuve by a nose for me. I still haven't seen Tenet, but I'm in love with every single Villeneuve movie listed there.

I dont like any of these movies.

But whatever, its personal preference. I thought he was fine in 17 Again, but beyond that...again, I thought he was excellent in The Greatest Showman, but thats about it.

haha yes - that environmentalism documentary was called down to earth. Hence my (failed) joke

Upon watching Dune again last night, I couldn't help but observe that the movie tends to lose momentum toward the end.

Despite my admiration for its cinematography, sound design, and my fondness for the story itself—having read it several times times—I don't recall experiencing this sense of stagnation during my initial viewings.

Tenet appreciators stand up and don’t let the narrative that it’s a terrible mark on Nolan’s resume go unchallenged. There are dozens of us!

I found it boring on the first watch, but I think I wasn't in the right mood and I know I didn't know it was just the first part, so I was expecting the entire story to wrap up and was disappointed when it didn't.

Watched it again a couple weeks ago and liked it way more. Plus I read Cole's notes or something like that summarizing the book, so I understood more about the universe going in, which I think you kind of need to really get what the movie is doing. Going in cold on my first watch was a mistake.

I definitely rewatch Nolan movies a lot more than I rewatch Villeneuve movies. This may be partially because Villeneuve movies tend to skew a little "heavier". I'm not sure I need to rewatch Prisoners more than the two times I've seen it. I rewatch Interstellar, Inception, the Batman movies, The Prestige and Dunkirk at least once a year. I've already rewatched Oppenheimer twice, so I'm sure that will just join the rotation.

Their 4 before the most recent 4 are also incredible films.

Nolan has The Prestige, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Dark Knight Rises. Villeneuve has Incendies, Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario. There's not a single weak film in that list.

Tenet is good. Finally saw it for the first time in a 70mm IMAX theatre in NYC last week. It didn't make a ton of sense but it was still great fun.
