Believe they also agreed to trade him, at his request, at the deadline if things were not working out from a competitive standpoint.

Most teams aren't going to offer that kind of role, ice time, linemates, and flexibility.

I also do think you are dead on when you say that they value his experience in the room. How many players have literally won a Conn Smythe trophy, been dominant players in international competition, won 3 Cups, played on a semi Dynasty, and still able to contribute to this point, at a rate of $2.5M annualized? A guy like Stevie Y would value that, and brings a confidence/mentality, that can't be bad for on ice development and mental skill building for the likes of Larkin, Raymond, Debrincat, Seider, etc.

Not a shtick at all and not click bait nonsense either.

Scorp's just a guy that is all in on defending his opinion when he believes something, and is not going to quickly change his beliefs on a player or a take. And that's perfectly fine and I kind of like it, especially since he's also willing to defend his takes and take his lumps when he's wrong. Better then flip flopping back and forth all the time.

And I'll tell you he truly believes this about Kane, and it's no shtick. Most of the year he hasn't shut up about him via text message either and I don't think he has anything to gain that's a shtick or clickbait by texting me.
