So if I’m reading dissentowner correctly the only team that realistically will do a sign and trade is Florida? I’m not surprised but was hoping Boston would be in there to drive price up. Hopefully Florida buckles , other wise it’s rental price for hanifin.

I’m 100% confident flames will get their first round pick for tanev.

I'd take Holtz over Mercer if they increase the futures
coming back. Especially if there's any retention.

Holtz and multiple picks. Or Holtz, 1st and Casey

Not sure what the story was on the inclusion of Casey but he was mentioned a week ago, supposedly as the cost of retention?

Man I love the idea of adding both Mercer and Lundell by the deadline.

Just like that the C depth is notably stronger in a meaningful way, and with upside for the future. Not sure if wither will ever be a true #1C but both are young with potential.

Will most likely have to get the future elite #1C in the draft.

Like a forward core moving into the building that has, Zary, Pelletier, Coronato, Pospisil, Holtz, and say a kid like Lundell? That's upside bonanza. Then you sprinkle in vets who feed off youth like Huberdeau and Kadri... that's a novel retool of the fw group.

I want this. So badly.
Plus the multiple firsts.. sounds so good. Let’s make it happen

I’m not suggesting that’s what happens, just my thought in terms of what it would take for Conroy to say yes. They’ve been pretty clear that they feel the best way to get value for these players is to move them individually. For them to send both guys to a single team, one would think it would have to be a franchise-altering return, and that’s basically what the return I suggested would be. You would almost instantly rebuild your roster with a move like that.

Hard to see any team paying such a price unless they truly felt they were these specific pieces away from winning it all.

I think Florida could budge eventually on Hanifin.

They have some pressure to win this year due to their contract situations, and Hanifin is a piece that helps today but also helps protect against some of their long term contract risk since he wants to be there.

I think they maybe will include Lundell eventually here

I'll absolutely take deals with returns centered around
Holtz + 1st for Markstrom
Lundell ++ for Hanifin

Then you squeeze a 1st or conditional 1st out of Dallas or Toronto?

Your rebuild/retool/whatever is set.

Maybe there's no risk at all. Perhaps Conroy has a couple offers in his back pocket from GMs who don't have the assets or desperation to pay the full price the Flames are asking and it's giving Conroy the confidence to stand firm on his ask to the rest of the league.

Lundell and a 1st. Lundell doesn’t strike me someone with offensive ability ready to break out.

Agreed, those would be two fantastic adds, if they can pull it off. I’ll miss the outgoing guys, both have been tremendous Flames, but returns like that would help make the transition easier, for sure.

Casey makes sense because it's unclear where he fits in with the Devils. He is an offensive minded dman, who isn't great defensively.
So you have to ask is he going to get PP time and an offensive role over Hamilton, Nemec and Hughes? Not likely.

So they are probably asking themselves, does he have more value as a trade chip?
And he's probably wondering where he fits on that blueline given the long-term pieces in place.

The conclusion is that he's a chip to be used to address gaps elsewhere, namely, goaltending.

I am not saying let any assets walk, but he does need to keep this in mind when making his first league wide impression.

I get what you are saying, it just feels like he is getting fair market value for these players...got a feeling the organization is trying to re-tool on the fly by insisting that young NHL ready players be traded for their impending uFA's....will see if it works out

If Lundell is off the table, what can we get from the Panthers for a signed Hanifin? 2026 first rounder for sure, but what else can they add? Any intriguing prospects? I assume they'll have to send a roster player back as well to make the cap work, even if we retain 50% of Hanifin?

Lundell to me is tracking almost exactly like Backlund in their 1st 3 full consecutive years.

Not much really. Samoskevich and maybe sawchyn? But they're not overly enticing from a fan perspective.

The asks from Conroy do seem to show how much he wants to avoid what happened with the Iginla and Bouwmeister trades. He wants proven, young NHL talent that’s ready to take on a bigger role and has potential to pop under those circumstances.

Hope it works out… his asks are high but he does have the best players on the trade board. Going to be a crazy and stressful couple weeks to the trade deadline.

I don't much like when Steinberg is pretty much mirroring Serivallis opinion that Hanifins return is gonna suck.

Steinberg sets the table like Rishaug does for the Oilers.

Their prospect base is very thin: Mackie Samskevich, Justin Sourdif and not much else.

So just give us Lundell.
