The MCU actually has a good amount of strong female characters. It's too bad they surround Captain Marvel with the type of pandering you're talking about because the fact that Marvel's "Superman" is a woman is pretty badass on it's own.
Nebula - One of my favourite characters
Gamora - Galaxy's greatest assassin?
Okoye - Also no powers but badass anyways (I think they should have made her the new Black Panther, even just for the second movie as Shiri's protector)
Shiri - Also no powers (originally), but framed as more intelligent than even Banner or Stark, and now is Black Panther
Pepper Potts - "Do you mean the night where......you left me standing there by myself?" CEO of the world's most powerful corporation.
Wasp - Framed as the more capable between her and Lang basically from the beginning.
Scarlett Witch - One of if not THE most powerful characters and possibly an awesome overarching villain?
In reference to the last point, something I'd like to see more of in the main-line MCU is more swapping between good and bad. Those are often the most interesting characters. Would like to see both Scarlett Witch and Strange become actual villains.

Driveaway Dolls is a bit odd and quirky, I wanted to watch Margaret Qualley and it's directed by Ethan Cohen so figured it was a safe bet. The pacing seemed strange and it was a bit tough to make out Qualley's southern accent but it had quite a few funny moments and was unpredictable, the lesbian humour was great. Was glad I went. 6.5/10

2001 A Space Odyssey, Alien, Blade Runner, Empire Strikes Back. When someone asks what are the best sci Fi films of all time, these are the names that come to mind. Well now you can add another one to the list; Dune 2. It absolutely blew away my sky high expectations. The craftsmanship that went into the story, the score, the special effects, the fighting, everything was done perfectly. I can't wait to see it again and again, I absolutely loved it.

Yeah I've seen ESB and ROTK comparisons from multiple reviewers.
Sounds like an event in cinematic history like those were.
It's about time we got another Great sci-fi like that. I might have to go to the VIP theater for such a film.

I personally think Blade Runner 2049 is right up there, one of my absolute favorites of the past 10 years.
Looking forward to the new Dune, I enjoyed the last one. I have to say though, casting has really diminished my excitement for these 2 movies. I'm just not a big fan of Timothy Chalamet or Zendaya, I simply don't like them.

I’m also not Zendaya fan. She has zero charisma and I’m just generally not a fan of her acting.
Chamalet I like though.

I'm kind of in the same boat...remember when...Kristin Stewart was getting tons of work? I couldnt figure out why. You could have replaced her with a cardboard cutout of herself for all of the charisma or talent that she showed.
Zendaya is essentially the same, but I dont understand really 'why.'
I thought she was outstanding in 'The Greatest Showman' but everything else she's done?
Its like the Director just tells her to "Stand there and pretend like you dont know the camera is rolling."

Stewart is actually a decent actress (was great as Joan Jett). Zendaya on the other hand needs to work on her craft a little more.

Yeah, Kristen Stewart grew out of the Twilight garbage and is decent but I still don't think she's great or versatile.
Zendaya is just terrible, she really has ruined the Dune movies for me. To think of what could have been with all the other incredibly talented actresses in her age range, it must have simply come down to her being happening at the moment and the her look working in the desert like setting. Certainly wasn't her acting.

Zendaya barely had a role in part one.
I don't know if she had enough screen time to "ruin" anything. People moaning about her in the first one are being a little dramatic.
With a much bigger role in this installment I could understand it but 99% of us haven't even seen it and it isn't out of the realm of possibility that the movie is great in spite of her presence.
I'm lukewarm on the actress, no strong feeling either which way. I don't think she's grating or anything like some other more typecast actresses of today.
Wasn't sure Chalamet had the chops to lead such an epic but he did alright in the first one. At the very his character portrayal is interesting even if you're not jumping out of your seat to root for him by the end of it. Sounds like that may come with some more character development along this heroes journey arc.

Trying to avoid spoilers as much as I can until more people have seen it but this movie really hinges on the relationship between Zendaya and Chalamet and for me it never veered into YA fiction territory (Twilight/Maze Runner). The 2 leads do a great job here and are believable on screen with their roles, they were both excellent. If you were apprehensive about those actors I would say you can put those worries to rest.

If someone told me Zendaya ruined Dune 1 for them, I would assume they hadn't even seen the movie. She's in it for like ten minutes, tops.

I'd assume she ran over their cat or ghosted them on Bumble.

If at all possible, see this on the biggest screen you can, it's so epic that it will add to the experience IMO. I feel like this is going to get a bunch of technical Oscar noms next year, the cinematography had major Lawrence of Arabia vibes

I've got a 96" screen and great sound system with no one disturbing me, and the ability to pause for nature breaks! It's perfect.

I was at the Dune II fan event last night. Movie is spectacular. High recommendation, especially if you're a fan of the source material. I don't understand the hate for Zendaya, she's a fine actress and will likely win an Oscar in the future. Chamalet and Butler are scene stealers in this movie, and Bardem shines as well.
I loved the themes present in this movie, and the cinematography and score were fantastic. My wife loved it as well, and she's not heavily into science fiction. A very high recommendation from me, and I see why the reviews are so jaw dropping. Well worth seeing in the midst of the annual late spring Edmonton snow storm!
