All started with Hunt who's hit on Nurse earlier in the shift broke his stick which caused the Oilers to scramble.
Foegle gave him his stick just before the goal. Nurse played that one fine, it's Foegle leaving the center of the ice slot area to cover Pachel that was the error, and Huberdeau recognizes it right away and makes a (still) tough pass to Hunt. Great shot too.

The wheels are coming off of the Oilers and its the same old chest nut.
The Oilers fire a coach, and bring in a new one. Leon and McDavid change their ways for a while and start checking. Then after a while they remember that this is their team and start playing their own version of the Oilyaz way and start giving up on defensive plays and flying to the neutral zone while their team is defending because with those two knuckle heads its all about them. They inform the new coach that his job is to make sure the bench hinges are oiled and to shaddup and let them do what they want.
The Oilers during the illusion riddled 16 game winning streak against mainly weak assed teams with backup goalies the Oilers played better defensively. Now they're back to the tire fire in their own system and Skinner is starting to fall apart.
Are they going to fire another coach when panic sets in and they slide out of the wild card race?
I wonder, Holland is retiring at the end of the year, are we going to see panic win now moves at the deadline where they give up massive pieces of the future that they don't have with their weak prospect pool and future busts like Boingberg and Holloway and first round picks to get that shiny bobble for one more year of Leon?
I hope so, this Oilers team doesn't like tough games, they were lucky with Boston, they looked like hot garbage for most of last nights game because they don't like competitive games.
Stanley Cup contender my shiny metal ass.

I waded over to some Oilers boards to see what the reaction was. Some are speculating McDavid might be injured because he’s seeming hesitant to shoot. I don’t watch enough Oilers games to know whether that’s true, but he is goalless in the last 10, so maybe?
Makes me wonder if the roosters are coming home to roost from the decision to rush him back for the Heritage game. A bit of recovery time back then and modern drugs/therapy can cover an issue for a while, but if they didn’t let it heal properly, it’ll come back eventually. Maybe they gambled on getting through the season before the issue was re-aggravated.

You are all forgetting that was a brutal B2B for the Oilers. I don't know how they were able to be competitive at all. Well done, Flames.

Doesn’t look like this was only a ‘new CP narrative’ after reading through the ATL and listening to ched last night; multiple dozens of oilers fans and media mentioned the butter soft schedule that lead to their 16 game streak. Oh, and also what were your thoughts about last nights game?

He was healthy enough to go win his own skills competition. He hasnt scored since. Nothing would be more fitting than McDavid aggravating an injury because he was too concerned about the personal accolades from winning his own skills comp.

He was "home" in Toronto and even though it was ASG and only a few days, saw how life would be and how he'd be treated all the time, under the bright lights and big city if he was part of that city and the Leafs.
Then he has to come back to the city of Edmonton, a run down tired dirty flickering lamppost compared to Toronto, and knowing full well the team were winning 16 games through some fluke and it could only go downhill to some degree the rest of the year, from there.

It wasn't the accolades. It was the million simoleons the league was dumb enough to give him.

I believe he isn't shooting because he is trying to get to the 100 assists mark. Another big feather in his own undersized cap that he wears too tightly I suppose.

Don't hold your breath. He won't be showing up for a couple weeks, or until another objective truth/"CP narrative" crops up that he disagrees with.

I also think being in Toronto and being asked about Toronto got the gears turning in his head.

If you average the win/loss records (as of today) of the teams that the Oilers beat during the win streak (including Chicago twice) you end up with a record of 25-26-6. Hardly threatening.
