Is Nemec really off limits if he was the focus of a deal that returned a retained Markstrom and extended Hanifin? I mean - Hanifin might be what Nemec turns into as a good case. There’s potential to exceed, but there’s less than 20% chance that happens.

Re trading Tanev at the deadline, then re-signing in the summer here. When’s the last time that’s happened? I can’t recall any off hand although I know it has.

Most recent is Bjugstad last season, was traded to Edmonton then signed back in Arizona.

Vladar looked pretty damn good tonight all things considered. The step down to Markstrom -> Vladar -> is huge but you have to sell high on Marky imo.

If I was GM that was considering Hanifin and then I watched that game tonight I'd be increasing my offer.
He looked like a guy who could be a number 1 dman tonight. Poised with the puck, playing with confidence, solid defensively, skates so well, and is even using his body to seal guys off and win board battles more often now.

Vladar was great. All three goals scored on him were ones that would have been difficult for any goalie, and he came up big a few times. I really think if he gets a solid stretch as a starting goalie, there is some real potential there. I am not saying he will be a Vezina candidate like Markstrom, but I think he can be a decent starting goalie.
