Or they say eff it we aren’t paying and conroy is left with his pants around his ankles.
Can’t run Hanifin and tanev (maybe markstrom) right to deadline. Things fall apart. Remember cammy and stempniak. Can’t have a repeat of that.

Nah, the pool is weak this year. There will be buyers willing to pay.

Well, Mercer played over 20min tonight (Holtz played under 6min).

Stagger the trades. Get 1 out of the way this weekend would be good. Allows more time and energy to focus on the others.

That’s what we thought last summer. Then all the buyouts happened. All it takes for some more sellers to jump in and tank the market. Then we are in a weak position. Get the work done in advance to minimize risk.

Does broberg really have much value? He is in Valamaki territory where he needs to clear waivers next season.

I think he has actually been a solid defender. He really should be in their lineup but they have Nurse, Kulak, and Ekholm on the left side. I’d laugh if Broberg goes elsewhere because he likely explodes elsewhere.

Same thing with Holloway. Both are having a hard time beating out bottom players on the Oilers to stick in the NHL consistently, and both are waivers eligible next season.
There is no guarantee that either would be able to make the Flames full time next season, and then you just risk losing them on waivers if they can't.

No way, I want everything to happen 11th hour, waiting on the fax machine to go through, for peak CP insanity.

Not from what I hear from my die-hard Oiler friends. Broberg doesn't seem to have any hockey sense. This is why he's not in the lineup and he's already asked for a trade. Kind of reminds of me Valimaki but at least he had a few shots even with Sutter at the helm. Think about it, the Oilers' D doesn't have that much depth already. I'd take Oilers' 2024 and draft a better D-man or a center on a trade with them.

All these pieces and prospects being bandied about league wide is not going to end with 0 activity.
It’s gonna look like that Randy Marsh gif when the deadline is finished.

No I think a little more is justified. My thought is that the Flames want 2nd + asset for Tanev and the Markstrom deal was Mercer + 1st without factoring in retention and the hitch was the valuation on the retention. So you add tanev to the deal get the 2nd and the + asset is the difference between the Flames and devils valuation of the retention. I don't think we need to retain on Tanev.
Makes sense to me.

As much as I want mercer in the deal , I have my doubts devils ever put him in the deal.

I think it should strongly be considered, since they aren’t going to be able to pay every single ELCer they have the money they want, especially on the backend if they sign him. Think about it, their offense is loaded. They’re going to need to give $’s to Nemec and L Hughes when it’s time. Markstrom at 6m (or less) gives them that cap hit that is saved for a Nemec extension. I think Mercer would’ve been extended well before the season began if they hadn’t thrown so much money at Meier.

Maybe the Flyers should be enquiring about Markstrom…

With Hughes and Toffoli.
Mercer isn't going anywhere.

Swap "M's" with Philly. Marky for Michkov.

Takes two to make a trade.
Do you want Conroy to accept a deal for the sake of getting one done this weekend?
You can assume that Conroy has not seen a deal he likes yet.

Chances of him exploding anywhere are low. If you cannot beat out Brett Kulak you are doing something wrong.
