maybe he's getting called up, maybe he's banged up. There's a few reasons for scratching him, but I think the chance of Stankoven getting traded is below zero.

"Franchise-aletering", as in these assets the Flames acquire (3+ 1sts, other picks, quality prospects, current NHL players-turned into future assets, etc..) are going to define the next 10-15 years of this franchise.

So this next couple weeks is 100% potentially franchise-altering

Teams can get wild at deadline time. Just ask TB and Tanner Jeanot. As the old adage goes: Even Gretzky can be traded.

Wonder if this would be Stankovens call up for when Dallas sends out Dellandrea for Tanev?

I'm inclined to agree, Stankoven isn't getting traded. They're giving him messiah treatment. And it's earned. His AHL stats are on par with Kucherovs.

Gotta think Conny wants one of these trades hammered out soon here. I certainly wouldn’t want to deal with multiple tricky trades at once within the last couple days, such as a sign and trade or multi year salary retention. Should be an interesting weekend, especially with that clever Fitz gif from Sec! Never would’ve gotten that one if Moreno and Gurriel weren’t going deep with the Dbacks.

I agree. At some point, time is gonna become an issue. I imagine the Tanev trade will be pretty simple. But the Hanifin trade could be a sign and trade. And if it happens, the Markstrom trade is gonna involve retention and compensation for that or a 3rd team.

Kadri to Colorado! Conroy could make it super simple for the Avs. Just give us 1 Bowen Byram + 1 Ryan Johansen to make the money work.

Dellandrea + 2nd for Tanev would really fit the bill of what Conroy's been doing.

A once highly touted young player that had a good season last year but a disappointing season this year, and a pick.

Only thing is the log jam at wing is starting to build up but Dellandrea has played Center before so could be tried there

I’d rather a 1st than Dellandrea as he’s not going to amount to anything more than a bottom 9 depth guy, of which we have a lot of.

I think the Flames would too, but it's possible teams don't step up with a first and then you have to assess from there.

A year or so back I would tend to agree, thinking Laine might fit with Huberdeau type thing. But there’s just been too much downward trend with Laine that I’m not sure he would be the guy I’d take a chance on any longer.

Not that they’re the exact same player or fit, but I’d be more inclined to look at Zegras in this case as a comparative to your thoughts, though at this point I’m not sure either player are what Calgary is looking for as they retool or restructure or whatever they wish to call it.

I predict the Flames will get more than a 1st if the Flames wait until the deadline and then sell Tanev.

Yeah who needs a second and third line? #### them!

Conroy will get the best assets he can and that allows him to do other deals. Maybe that’s a player like Dellandrea, maybe it’s the vaunted 1st.
