I agree that it's likely a formality. And I am confident that the Flames are certain he will approve and waive.

But they don't want a media circus putting undo stress on him, so no doubt they would have been pissed at the leaks

Man I really want this Markstrom trade to go down. We don't NEED to trade him, but it's still something that should happen.

Need to start looking for our next star goalie (hopefully it's Wolf) for when this team gets turned around, and that goalie isn't currently 34 years old.

Marky bouncing back is what this franchise needed badly this year so we didn't have another dead asset, to get some valuable futures for him would have been unfathomable a year ago.

Mercer and Lundell would make me happier. Flames have oodles of winger options, need more shots at high end centers.

To play devils advocate if Markstrom didnt bounce back we could be looking at a top 5 pick.

The only top 5 pick we've ever had ended up being Sam Bennett and he's not even a Flame anymore.

I'd rather have the dead boat anchor asset turn into something that we can get a return for, especially with some of the returns that have been rumored on here.

There is still time to get into the top ten of the 2024 draft though.

I don't think we get Lundell out of FLA, but if we do, I would be more willing to take Holtz from NJD. Still prefer Mercer by a mile, but we need to get at least one good young C.

Florida doesn’t really have any prospects of value

Too much from Florida. I don’t see them trading for Hanifin when Lundell is more of a need for them. They likely don’t want to trade their youth forwards

Hanifin to BOS for Lohrei & a 1st

Watching him tonight, he is outstanding. A future top pairing D-man IMO. Could step into the top 4 next year

Florida has a train wreck on defense starting next year with 4 UFAs this summer. So yeah Hanifin would be a great deal and I could see a sign and trade on this one for Floridas peace of mind.

I think it starts with Lundell or Hanifin goes to Boston.

I think you're referring to undue stress.

Undo stress is when you hit Ctrl-Z so many times your keyboard breaks.

I have been there.

To clarify, do you mean they are currently negotiating hard or they were before it went silent? Appreciate the insight!

I’m guessing tonight was Markstrom’s last game as a Flame. His performance tonight, coupled with Daws meltdown will push Fitz to fold.

We’d be in the Celebrini talks if not for Markstrom.
