I just think a lot of Trucks and SUVs have gotten unreasonably big.

Jeep people are weird. This is evidenced by the Jeep “waves” that owners give each other. Like, “hey, you also own a pile of crap, bless you friend.”

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram are all terrible and I actually find it hard to imagine someone buying any one of those on purpose. I don’t usually think less of someone based on the vehicle they drive, but if they drive one of those I do… or a BMW.

Prepare to think less of me (if possible)

I have a '11 Durango that has 350,000 km on it, never a moment of trouble and the boy is driving it now.

In fact I bought a '22 Durango cuz my '11 was so good.

The heart wants what the heart wants.

Jeeps

I remember the military had them when I joined.

They were fun to bag the #### out of, but for an practical purpose weren't very good.

Think it's just a weird connection thing people feel when they're in a similar mode of transport. I bought a pair of rollerblades a few summers back, more often than not when I pass another rollerblader, they smile or nod to me or something, like we're a little support group. It's kinda funny.

Played beer league last night. Older guy on the other team, not super great, probably never played growing up wearing a half visor. Feels relevant since this isn't an ex-pro who never played any other way etc.

Takes an errant puck to the nose. Goes down, it's run time we're down a goal. Burns half the remaining time getting off the ice, going back to the bench.

Sucks he got hurt, glad he was ok for the handshake line, but put on a f-ing cage man! I pay money for my icetime, and you're a straight MORON for not wearing one in crappy beer league. An inch lower and you're in for a grand of dental reconstruction.

Could equally argue they should stop the clock with injury, but the league rules are what they are.

I have a guy that doesn't wear #### all, no visor or cage.

I mean we are a rugby team that has put together a hockey team, but come on be smart.

I used to wear a visor but just recently put on a cage because of a near miss.

Lol!

I never played Beer League hockey, but I worked at 2 Leisure centers that rented Ice.

Playing Men's/Beer League without a full cage is straight madness. The insanity I've seen?

Guys...we've all got to go to work tomorrow and the team isnt picking up your medical bills.

Back in the say when I owned an STI I would get these WRX and STI driver waves and it was super awkward because I don't know them and waving to strangers while driving isn't my thing nor did I care to be part of the stereotypical Subaru flat brim hat culture. Being a Canadian though I would oblige at times or pretend I didn't see them and ignore.

I never used a visor until I was like 37 and had to. But I'm a colonial old school jerk. In my 20's I got a well placed shot off the beak that caused a lot of blood. Wasnt a hard shot, so I never went down...straight to the bench. We had 7 skaters...one of the refs took me to the dressing room, helped me, got the bleeding to stop and used some stick tape to cover it off. Missed 8 minutes of the game in the second period and finished it out. Can't imagine anyone letting a guy with a bloody face and jersey come back in the game today. It was a broken nose, needed to be set, and had some medical adhesive to close up the cut. Hardest part of going to work the day after was 5 hours of sleep after getting out of the ER.

Last year we had a guy take a clapper in the mouth in a playoff game. Did a lot of damage. Week before he was talking about maybe going to a cage because he'd had some close calls. That was enough to make me stop playing.

the worst i've seen in beer league was when one of the d-men on my team bombed a slapshot from the point. a guy on the other team put his stick out in front of himself and the puck went straight up his stick and caught him in the mouth. the guy dropped immediately and guys from both teams and the refs went to help him. they got him off the ice but we had to get the rink rats out to scrape all the blood off the ice (there was lots). from my crease i could see him going to the change room holding his face with a river of blood flowing from his hands. i contacted the captain of the other team a few days later asking how his guy was doing... he was ok, but lost 7 teeth!!!
moral of the store - wear a cage!

as for the clock still running... i used to also score keep and it was made very clear the the clock couldn't stop. it basically came down to the fact that the game has to be over by a certain time so that the ice could be cleaned and the next game could start on time. i remember one night there was an incident when a guy had a heart attack while playing. 911 was called immediately and fire/ehs were at the rink in about 5 minutes. they worked on the guy forever before taking him out to the ambulance. the two teams that were playing both just went to their change rooms and didn't finish the game (understandably) - but what if the game clock was stopped and it delayed all the remaining games by 45 minutes? you show up to play your 11pm game to find out you are not on the ice until 11:45pm - that would suck.

Driving a Patriot or an old TJ, or new Commander, is essentially akin to trying to drive a flat wall around.
