The NJ deal feels like one that also doesn't have to be this year deal. It's actually a "long term" deal for both teams.

The Flames have zero urgency to move Markstrom this year because he's not on expiring contract. NJ has some urgency for this year if they want to try and save this season, but really this is them looking for a longer term solution in net. If Conroy isn't getting what he wants now, and if NJ are feeling like Conroy's ask is an overpay at the moment. This deal could 100% get looked at in the offseason again with fresh eyes, and the removal of the trade deadline pressure.

I'm not sure if that ends up being, better, worse or neutral for the Flames on value, but I actually guessing it doesn't end up changing 80%ish of the value on this trade.

Whatever happens, I hope we do a trade like Ottawa and Colorado did a couple years ago in the Duchene trade.

I feel that if the Devils were serious here they would have pushed to have this done by now. They have a 4 in 6 starting tonight and if that doesn’t go well it doesn’t leave them with much runway to make the playoffs after. Would Jacob waive to go there if they were that far out? Thats why I think the time for a deal with NJ was a week ago. Yes I think they are our most ideal partner at the moment but the timing just seems to be off now. I would predict an off season move and a focus to move Hanafin and Tanev before the deadline.

That would be a pretty solid package ngl. Not amazing but solid as a foundation I'd say. Would love another 2026 2nd thrown in there

Poitras and the 25 1st are good so long as it’s completely unprotected. Those other two pieces make no sense though, especially for a signed Hanifin.

Thats a #### package. 2 expiring old UFAs, one of which was already here, the other broken and Poitras who we really know little about all things considered and a 2025 pick which might have conditions on it as it is? Need to check that again.

Would be kind of funny to deal with Boston and not get long rumored Lysell.

And yeah Murphy has Boston connections but honestly hasn't broken a ton of news

If Lysell is in there along with Gryz and Forbort that’s fine then, once Conroy sets the market he has two more Dmen he could deal for teams feeling they’ve missed out.
