Selling things on ebay

Does anyone have any helpful tips for selling stuff on ebay? I have no experience whatsoever buying or selling anything on there. Is it a fairly easy process? Any suggestions would be most helpful. Thanks in advance.

You can artificially increase your rating by buying items at 1 cent auctions. though in the world of e-bay, I expect that does more harm than good since people can actually check your purchanse history lol.
