In fact, I imagine the New Jersey management team looks something like this at the moment:

I feel you man. It's the same reason I stopped doing post game recaps. I thought it was fun, and I was providing something of value to the community, and then when I thanked everyone for an awesome season I got defecated on HARD by a number of people, and lost all desire to share that with the posters here. This place can get real ugly, and yes it's usually only a few posters but they are inordinately loud in comparison. I don't blame SEC one bit for crying off of sharing anymore, but I for one will miss his insights

Some posters will only be happy when this place goes silent so they're only left with their own opinions inside of an echo chamber.
I know I could sure use a gif right about now to get my mind off of a tough day filled with tantrums. Maybe Sec just doesn't want to interrupt family day haha.

It is strange to me that no team has stepped up to pay a first round pick for tanev. He is legitimately one of, if not the best, shutdown defensemen in the league. It seems like every year, teams have paid at least a first round pick for defencemen that are not as good as him. Top it off with the fact that this 2024 draft is not as highly touted as others and I don’t see why these GMs think he should only cost a 2nd round pick. If teams don’t have a first in 2024, I doubt Conroy would have a problem accepting a first round pick from 2025 or 2026 - even if they are lottery/top 10 protected.
Maybe the pressure of the trade deadline will get one or more of them to step up but a first round pick seems like a reasonable price for what tanev brings to a playoff team.

I think it's just the case that teams don't want to give their best offer prematurely. The problem is that if you offer the 1st now, Conroy takes it around, and someone makes it a 1st plus, and you start a bidding war, with no control over the outcome.
I think they're all in 'wait and see' mode

Toronto is a great example… every week I hear from Sportsnet and TSN NHL insiders about how the Leafs really want Tanev but don’t want to trade their first round pick. Then you don’t get him, Brad. I don’t want your 3 x third round picks. Don’t waist my time with that. You have a first round pick… that’s the price for you to have Tanev right now. Every playoff team wants to shore up their defence.

I’d trade Tanev to Dallas or something with a B prospect attached.
Brad will need those 4th round picks. What is a large quantity picks anyways? Sending us years worth of 5th and 6th rounders ? Still not valuing draft picks.

If I was a contending team Tanev would be my number one target
I’ll have hard time not rooting for whoever gets him

What’s great with Tanev compared to others is that his game likely fits in instantly with any team. He makes every defenceman that he ever plays with better. He works great paired with guys that are offensively gifted as they usually start jumping into the play more because he is so reliable.

Agreed, he will truly help someone in a big way.
He plays the game as it should be and never cheats it.
I just keep coming back to the Stars for him. They are really good and he gives them an element they are weak on.

Tanev is a classic TDL day acquisition. Least amount of salary, make sure he is still healthy and the acquiring team is as sure as it can be for the health and playoff chances of its team. Might as well wait to the deadline and line up the offers.
Hanifin is tough because he may end up just being a rental. I am sure they are working the extended Hanifin angle, but it may be that the return isn’t worth it, especially since Boston and Florida may not have the draft capital or young players to dangle. I am expecting an oddball team to make a good offer as a rental. Either way, he ain’t coming back, so get what you can.
Markstrom is even more difficult. So many moving parts amongst roster players, draft picks and retention for a player who is not a rental. I would hope it happens sooner rather than later, but it is so hard to say. I wouldn’t be shocked if he stayed a Flame until the summer. Wouldn’t be shocked if he was traded tomorrow.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Would love for Conroy to play the long game and get Boston’s first round pick in 2025 or 2026. It would likely have to be lottery protected which is fine. If they are willing to include one of those picks in the trade then I would be fine if they were the trade partner and they also included a good prospect and maybe a 2nd/3rd round pick.
