Markstrom to New Jersey for Mercer + 2025 1st + …
The Flames have two young centres to go with Zary, Pelletier and Coronato on the wings, next year. Who knows where Honzek ends up in the future? Plus, the Flames would have multiple 1sts in three consecutive seasons.
That would be a good start to a re-tool!

Well, the Flames have 2 2024 1sts. So, getting a 2025 1st and a 2026 1st would accomplish that goal, since the Flames have a 2025 1st and a 2026 1st, unless Florida’s 2024 1st is top-10 or Florida’s 2025 is a lottery pick. I don’t think my expectations are unrealistic.

I hope Sec214 hasn't become disinterested in posting info anymore; 99% of us appreciated his contributions and looked forward to his posts. I can understand his frustration too; I used to provide easter eggs on the arena stuff but for the same reasons that Sec214 ran into, I stopped. Some people can be unnecessarily downright negative and vicious, despite not even knowing a single thing about the person behind the post and who they are in real life.

Staggering the 1st round picks across multiple drafts is a great strategy. Especially from teams that are doing great this year. This league is so up and down and you never know what can happens with injuries etc.
Also gives you an asset to use to get players into the lineup. You never know what player becomes available. Like say a Jack Eichel, now if have more ammo to go after someone.

Hope they don’t get fixated on size and heaviness. That’s how you miss on good skilled players who skate around the heavy players and score.
I mean what team wouldn’t want a bunch of 6’3 guys who skate really fast, are physical and score. They are rare.
