Context is always important, wouldn't you say? Maybe the context of that comment should be examined before the pitchforks and torches be made at the ready?
It all starts with Slava making this post about a Kenney presser as part of the pandemic response in 2020.
"Are people just looking for reasons to get upset? I watched the presser and that didn’t seem like a shot against physicians at all. I think it’s pretty obvious that he was suggesting there are those of us (and probably literally many of us on this forum), who are able to work from home, collect pay and life goes on. The poorer people who work retail/service jobs in general aren’t given that luxury. When people want a hard shutdown of these businesses it’s those people who suffer; I feel like Kenney was pretty clear about that issue.
And I’m only partly surprised that people here are up in arms about these restrictions. It seems like a measured, rational approach. We know where the cases are and they’ve tried to address that without crushing these small businesses that have already seen a horrific 2020. I feel like they got this basically exactly right. I hope people follow the rules and hopefully it works."
Ozy follows that up with this retort.
"Are you blind? You really need to watch it again.
Watch it again. The question is asked at 1:08:48 about the physicians recommendations. Kenney addresses "people recommending lockdown policies" at 1:10:50, and the pot shot at docs starts starts specifically at at 1:11:00.
"I would ask people who have the certainty of a paycheques - particularly a government paycheques - to think about those .... lives affected." And he had the gall to use the "women" card, when many of those in hospital and public support services are also women.
Then he goes to say "It's a little bit easy to say 'flick a switch, shut it down!" Then he goes into his socialist Venezuelan story.
Regardless of hypocritical political comments, this is not the circuit-breaker that hundreds of docs have requested. We could have a very significant reset after a strict two-week lockdown. Physician approved. And in time for Christmas.
Instead we're protecting "civil liberties" while not making significant changes to people's behaviour outside of shaking the finger to not have personal house parties. Personal responsibility is still the rule of the day.
Good luck with the UCP's response. I choose to put my faith in 430 certified physicians. Not eight elected partisan officials.
We're going to need all the luck we can get - because faith in this - and the personal responsibility of Albertans - is running well low.
You can keep arguing with me if you like but this is a very political pandemic response and it's not good enough. End of story."
PaperBagger enters the chatroom with this addition.
"And you are doing nothing to de escalate the same politicism you're condemning with your posting here.
I can tell you do your research and are probably more informed on the political front than most. You're for sure more politically literate than myself. But the way you phrase your posts comes across as partisan and combative, and that instantly makes me less likely less likely to agree with you."
Ozy responds sarcastically with...
"Why thank you "
To which Paperbagger responds with this sick burn that has caused so much pain and suffering for Ozy.
"With that being said, if you were offed tomorrow by getting hit by a bus it wouldn't be a big loss to me"
All from 11/24/2020. So yeah, it appears someone has been keeping notes and has waited over three years to drop that little bomb. If we are looking for a culprit in this it is probably Slava for having the audacity to say something that could be construed as supportive of Jason Kenney. With out that type of barbaric behavior we don't have anyone on the underside of a bus.

100%. The amount of venom, vitriol and non-truth in his posts is quite sad and unhealthy too, it's almost concerning; just from this thread towards Ozy alone:
"get bent"
"you human wet wipe"
"chump"
"He lied about the “I want him to die” post"
"he’s a garbage poster with literally no value to this board"
"I’m sure there’s lots of triggers for you"
"you may need a safe space or 2 along your journey"
"your sorry ass keeps receipts too so check yourself"
"hypocritical loser"
"I don’t wish you to die"
"Your existence is something I’m indifferent towards"
"I’m sure there’s a pity party I’m keeping you from"
"you hypocrite self victimizing loser"
"you self victimizing loser"
....and this was from only the last 2.5 pages - yikes!
Paper needs a day at the spa for some meditation and healing.

Well, on the plus side at least the last few pages aren't entirely about Trump.

Wasn't pointing a finger at you Fuzz, just identifying the quote that was in question and then doing the contextual dive. The "comment" wasn't as bad as some have made it out to be, but yeah, not cool. I've had worse said to me / wished on me over the years so I don't look at these things without first looking at other comments and escalatory rhetoric that precedes them. Judge as you like but there are posters who have said worse IMO, especially in the heat of a political debate.

It wouldn’t hurt if people mellowed out a bit. Hold back on the vitriol, and at the same time, realize this is supposed to be a friendly message board, don’t need to take everything so much to heart.

Is this thread meant to reflect the decline in the US?
Or is this just a tragic coincidence?

Or a similar decline in Canada? The two nations are tied at the hip and what affects one ultimately affects the other.

The whole world is declining, the human species as we know it may not last another 10 years.

Not so far, at least in what matters most. Life expectancy changes in the last decade:
USA: 78.8 -> 77.5 (1.3 years lost)
Canada: 81.7 -> 81.6 (0.1 years lost)
It's particularly bad for men in the US; male life expectancy has dropped from 76.4 a decade ago to 73.5 now, nearly 3 years lost. While in Canada it has held roughly steady going from 79.6 to 79.3 now. The US's male life expectancy is now closer to Iraq, Egypt, or Syria's than it is to Canada's.

Never wished it on either, just indifferent towards certain posters existence. There’s a distinct difference there sugar. But you miss details like that.

Exactly, I’m not driving the bus or advocating otherwise. If it happens, it happens. Out of my hands.
