There’s never money to be made on betting the Bruins will be worse.
Best organization in hockey.

The Bruins don’t have a 2024 1st anyhow. It would be a 2025 or 2026 1st.

^ Sounds like a good problem for the Flames if that's the case. Rather that than this years'.

You're most likely absolutely correct.....but that's who we want dammit!

Exactly. So for those not wanting to deal with the Bruins since they don't have a pick this year, we're almost better off getting a future first rounder. Spread out the draft capital over multiple years.

I don’t hate bringing in Poitras. He is going to be a solid middle 6 center. Would like to bring him in and have him play with Backlund next season since he is essentially the Backlund replacement.
Long term center depth (assuming NJ trade goes how some think it may)
Mercer
Kadri
Poitras
Backlund
There are also options with Sharangovich and Zary as well. No clear cut bonfide number 1 center but very good depth.

Time for the Oilers to lose a few, then they can blame the "bug" that's going through the locker-room. It's one of their enduring traditions.

Don’t love Holloway coming back unless he comes back with the Oiler 1st. I am assuming they would want the Flames to take back Ceci as well.
To EDM
Tanev
To CGY
Ceci
Holloway
2024 1st
If they want Flames to retain include 2025 3rd or Lavoie.

If Boston is adding I can’t see them wanting to subtract from their roster. But Nonis is watching someone on Boston if he’s watched their last 3 games. Would be happy with Frederic in a return but weakens them at C. Unless we send them something else back (Rooney?)

I really hope Vancouver caves on Tanev, send us 2025 1st.

I wonder if the Flames are looking at Geekie. And agreed send Rooney back

People are going to think I'm mental, but imo Holloway would be dynamite between huberdeau and kuzmenko.

GMs will have the same opinion if the consensus is 25 will be better. A 25 pick will be more valuable than a 24 pick and be priced accordingly

If they could swap the 24 1st for Broberg and the Flames send back a depth forward like Greer, Duehr, or Rooney that would be an acceptable deal. Broberg could be a long term piece and Ceci would be a stop gap fill in to replace Tanev. Kylington moves up to the second pair and Broberg takes his spot down on the bottom pairing with Pachal

If we're trading Tanev up north, it would be for Broberg, Holloway, 1st
Then we tell Tanev to sabotage them, ala Smith, and he re-signs with us at 4m per for 3 years. Extra year for the sabotage.

I am dead set against any deals with our arch rival that has the potential to strengthen them, even if we are getting valuable assets in return.
Trade them to teams that will weaken the greasers chances
