Shockingly, we are seeing how stupid this new recall petition legislation is. Every time some weirdo gets annoyed by any little thing the government (any government) does, they're going to start a petition. It's a good thing the threshold is impossible to reach, or we'd be voting every 60 days as some other idiot gets annoyed with something and starts another petition.

It’s also just cheap promotion. $500 and suddenly every news outlet is covering it. The bar should be a little higher.

Make it $2,500 minimum or $5,000 for cities over 100,000 population and if you don’t get the required signatures the money go to the municipality same as the deposit required to run for office. The threshold is far too low.

They won’t choose her; she’s unelectable.

Ya, I think her chances of success are pretty slim, and there are better choices already.

It would pretty much guarantee another win for the UCP next general election, even with a farther-right looney-toon leader heading the government, at that time.

I’d say they can’t find a worse premier than Dani, but I thought that after Kenney.

I'm certain David Parker has already identified a replacement, or two.

When Smith came in and didn't do a mass clearing of the cabinet, you knew that this was not a serious "old leader steps down/new blood " situation, and everything was just going to plan. A simple way to escalate without looking like the electorate doesn't matter to them.

I hate to say it, but I agree.
Nothing against Hoffman, I hardly know much about her other than the fact that I respect her integrity and her abilities as a speaker.
But she was Notley's scapegoat.
Whenever anything went south who did Notley trot out to tell the people? Hoffman.
She is associated with 'Bad News.'
There are people who were executed by firing squads who have taken fewer bullets than Hoffman.

It's probably Nenshi or bust for their electoral chances. Notley was a strong leader and had respect from a lot of voters from all stripes. She polled above her party. Ganley, Hoffman, Ceci, Phillips , Irwin, etc. would all poll at party levels or below provincially.

I only did it once but I'm pretty sure they don't want to share some of the things I said. My comments were mostly along the lines of "this is a stupid idea" except generally less polite.

Also of note, that third loser is a sitting Conservative MP. Can we please, PLEASE keep Christofacists out of government? #### sakes.

The local MP is facing criticism this week after he was the lone vote in Canada blocking unanimous consent to request a Papal apology for the Catholic Church’s role in residential schools.
Article content
The motion, put forward on Tuesday by NDP MP Charlie Angus, who represents Timmins-James Bay, was on Tuesday, June 8 was in reaction to the discovery of 215 unmarked graves of children at the former Kamloops residential school and was a reiteration of the same motion tabled in May 2018.
Sherwood Park-Fort Saskatchewan MP Garnett Genuis went against the entirety of Parliament by failing to give the motion his support.
Besides asking for the Papal apology for the establishment, operations, and abuses of the residential schools, which was included within the Calls to Action with the Truth and Reconciliation Report, the motion also called on the Catholic Church to live up to its moral obligations and the spirit of the Indian Residential School Settlement Agreement and resume best efforts to raise the full amount of the agreed-upon funding, as well as asking the Catholic Church to hand over all relevant documentation regarding residential schools.

This was the second time he was the only one voting against this type of motion. His loyalty obviously lies with an imaginary power, not with the people who elected him.

Musselman and Genuis sound like last names made up by people who thought they would sound cool but don’t know how to spell
