Our goaltender who we’re expecting a Kings Ransom for, was not even in the NHL at 22.
Our best all-time goaltender, Kiprusoff, was not an NHL goaltender at 22.

Have to agree . Markstom was a in-betweener for 5 years!

He played 23 games when he was 22, and he first played at 20.
But yes, he didn't become a starter until he was 27. So he had a lot of NHL time, but it took a lot of NHL time to become a starter.

Personally I'm not a believer that Wolf will be a star until I see it. Been burned too many times with Kidd, Irving, Gillies, Parsons, etc. etc.
That said this was his 7th NHL game and he might have went into it knowing Markstrom can't go in and the pressure is on him. Ease up a little folks.

One could almost say, he needed to develop at the NHL level.

Christ
That’s not what I’m saying
Scrutiny is part of professionalism
And
If scrutiny isn’t allowed here
So be it
I can live with that
As long as the boys are having fun I suppose

There’s a middle ground. I just don’t think the clock is really ticking on wolf until the Flames need to be good. This is the time for the team to develop players.

Maybe not.
But at the very least he should be given more rope to try and prove himself than guys like Irving and Gillies got (hardly any rope at all).

Nothing wrong with scrutiny. But don’t say the NHL isn’t a developmental league.
Every league is developmental. The NHL is just the top tier. This does not mean that development doesn’t occur and is not required - you’d be absolutely wrong if you thought otherwise.

Yeah imagine if that was your plateau, get to the NHL and that's it. That's what you are.

Sutter was the one who said that, if you remember.

It's especially a development league when it comes to goaltending.
Rask took his time behind Thomas
Saros took his time behind Rinne
Shesterkin played behind Lundqvist
Swayman played behind Rask
The list goes on.

Don’t give a rip. He also pretended he didn’t know who Pelletier was.
Don’t read too much into what Sutter said in his interviews.

Ok
I guess I just have a different definition of professionalism
Mentoring is a huge part of professionalism
And
Wolf has showed us (at an NHL level at least) that he may be a little lost in the woods
And
Perhaps I’m thinking for the long run that it might be best to mentor him with markstrom instead of throwing him to the wolves
But
That’s just an unprofessional opinion

A rare situation where every one in Calgary knows before Friedman, Weekes etc.
Which amuses me greatly.
