I haven’t read the entire thread so apologies if this is old news. I have a source that is somewhat connected to the Flames/media. Before the game tonight he told me:

Likely Markstrom’s last game as a Flame
Going to New Jersey, retention is/was the hold up
Mercer likely to be part of the return
On going discussions to (maybe) include Hanifin in this deal
Expect it to go down tomorrow he thinks.

You'd have to get somebody to even be at NHL offices to do the trade call, Markstrom has to do the paperwork to waive the NTC, and it's also possible that New Jersey wants to make a big deal for their fans and not do it past midnight ET.

Think the idea was always more that the terms might be agreed to, Devils didn't want to play short guys tonight, so the deal gets announced tomorrow.

If if does get announced tonight it would be no earlier than an hour after the game likely.

What the hell are you talking about?? Did you look what I was replying to? We had people convinced the trade was being announced after the game...I said it's not happening tonight or we would have known by now.

Like almost anybody anywhere within earshot of the CSEC knows what's going down. And their cats too.
