How come everyone is hoping for Mercer? I don’t know much about him aside from that he was drafted 18OA and has had okay numbers thus far in the NHL. Interested to hear some insights
I think he can be a top six center in the NHL. That’d be a crazy return for Markstrom

How many 20 year olds score 27 goals, and 55+ points in the NHL? And how many of those become available less than a year later?
He’s a multi position forward.
He’s a pit bull on the puck.
He kills penalties already.
He’s a right shot.
He checks all the boxes, which I why I still think we as fans are expecting far too much here.

If Conroy gets another return similar to that he got for Lindholm I don't think you'll get any of the veterans running away. It's all about the talent and Conroy could be grabbing some interesting players and prospects that may see the team hurting for a short period of time and jumping back into the playoff mix in short order. I think this could be setup for a quick turnaround rather than years of pain which drives vets away. I think Kadri is here for the long-term and will see that as a legacy challenge for him.
He and Coleman are probably the 2 guys driving the team and the youth to compete. They will get the guys playing hard behind Wolf too once things settle down.
People pretty quick to chalk up the game to the players knowing Marky is out the door. But this is also a streaky team that plays its worst hockey against the worst teams. This is who they are.
