Yeah, screw giving up any picks. That's one of my favorite things about Conroy's trades so far. He hasn't traded away a single pick yet.

Detroit has a ton of prospects:
Centers:
Kasper (8th overall, 2022) - still adjusting to the AHL as a 19 year old, he's fast, he's a 200 ft player, and can become a 2nd line C when/if the finishing clicks. Think of Backlund, but with a bit more speed.
Danielson (9th overall, 2023) - A future top line center, but this one is all offense. He has vision and skill, so he generates something out of nothing. I don't think he'll be available.
Defensemen:
Edvinsson (6th overall, 2021) - good at defending, good skater, big, offense might come at some point but not a main part of his game.
Wallinder (32nd overall, 2020) - Big, jack of all trades, good skater, pretty good shot, but the ability to move the puck might need some work.
Sandin-Pelikka (17th overall, 2023) - A bit of a smaller offensive defenseman that can generate offense with his puck moving and shot. Like with many offensive defensemen defending is a work in progress.
Buium (36th overall, 2021) - Another big D, with some good offensive skills, skating is a bit of an issue. Struggles under pressure at times.

Anyone noticing a theme here with teams involved in trade talks with us ?
A lot of 1st round drafted players in play. Often from the same draft. Mercer and Holtz taken in 2020 and Jersey had 3 picks. Look at Detroit.
Conroy placing premium on picks and 1st rounders is such a refreshing change.
This could be us as players in the trade market in a few years.

Danielson would be my favourite pickup of their collection of great prospects but I really doubt they would do it. Leading up to the draft, his game reminded me of peak Monahan but with speed.

Detroit sure had a lot of good assets, seems like they’d be okay letting one go for Hanifin for the next 8 years

Worth noting DET has all their own future 1sts ... and beyond Seider and Walman, they badly need D.

Yeah, the Wings D is quite the patchwork job.
Woll? Petry? Chiarot? Gostisbehere?

Lets get Detroits 1st for Hanifin, the leafs for Tanev and the devils for Markstrom. Potentially 3 picks in a row!

I’m a big fan of Marco Kasper, and I think he’s being a little undersold here. He may be having a hard time adjusting right now, but we would be lucky to get him- I don’t think Detroit would give him up.

I think the Flames can reel in Edvinsson for Hanifin.

On insider trading they said the Leafs #1 target is still Tanev, but Treliving doesn't want to move their 1st and no 2nd rounders in next 3 years.
Toronto instead is offering a large quantity of lower round picks for a d-man. So far no takers.

I would be flat-out stunned if they get Edvinsson. That could be a future #1D right there

Daws with a shutout through one period. Markstrom deal definitely off the table now.
