Sharp was a long-time city employee before running for office. She absolutely knows this.

Then she is a political weasel
Quote:
It’s not just $16 a month . . . it’s $16 a month plus your assessment going up plus the cost of groceries and everything else,” she says.
“I’m getting calls and emails from constituents who say this isn’t $16 a month, it’s $90 or $120 a month.”
|
She is either ignorant or deliberately inflaming the debate as the 90 or 120 a month people increased would have happened due to relative property value changes rather than the tax increase.

She knows that, right?

She’s going after votes. She knows the voters don’t understand how it works so if she says things that are correct they’ll think she’s lying.

I'll take it, it's the least offensive thing I can think of at this point. It would be nice to have a boring council and a boring mayor instead of every other time they do something prompting an exasperated "oh ferf-cksake...".

People pushing paper, doing minor tax rate adjustments, minor tweaking of legislation, listening to qualified and educated experts on city building and having public town halls is about all the action anyone should expect from Council.
Please, just get to work.

This AI thing can't come soon enough. I am ready to be ruled by a machine, it can't be any worse than people, can it?

I guess it depends how much of a Flames fan you are - because I don't think there's any way a logical AI running the City makes the decision to build the new arena. Only people can do "fun" things like that.

Cool. The NHL is an embarrassment, the league a money grabbing disaster, and shoveling tax dollars at them wasn't really high on my list of priorities anyway.

Interesting analysis of the proposed blanket rezoning that has so many people worried. Would love to hear expert take away on this, Willem Klumpenhouwer is pretty level headed so I think it is worth looking at.
