So since that streak started , they are now 1-1 against teams ranked 5-10 and still havent played a game against 1-5.

What’s makes Connor Brown so awesome is, the Oilers have to pay his $3,225,000 bonus on next years cap yet.

When I was a kid, a family friend used to work in the Winnipeg arena and he gave me a game used Gretzky hockey stick. I thrashed it to shreds playing street hockey with it.
To be fair, in hindsight he was probably lying to us. It wasn't autographed and there was no way to actually prove it was Gretzky's stick. He said Gretzky was pissed off going to the dressing room and threw it in a track can, so he went and grabbed it. But in my 9 year mind, it was a legit Gretzky stick. My Oiler friend wanted it so bad, and it drove him to tears that I was "disrespecting" by using it for street hockey.

Congrats to the "Cup favourites" on their massive win against another below-average team who didn't bother showing up. And hey, look at that, another backup goaltender as well.
Lol, unreal. God I hate these losers and the media circle jerk surrounding them. Edmonton is no good.

Are the Oilers and Canucks done playing 17th-32nd ranked teams yet?
Always another one after losses to good teams to help them feel better about themselves.
Let's see a "gauntlet" of tough opponents like the Flames had.

With the amount of rest and easy schedule it's eventually gonna catch up, I expect March and April to be a harder time for the Oil.

Plus they got Detroit's "hasn't played in two months" .893 save percentage option in net. McLotteryBall gets 5 points against him and that makes him a hero.
Plus late in game they put Kane and Perry on his wings so he can be a tough guy and throw his weight around and then his big buddies come in as his bodyguards in the scrum.

With it being valentines day and all, I just want to let Oiler Fans know that I hope they never find love, and have to live alone forever.

Oilers record vs Top 10 by p% in 2023-24: 4-9-1
Canucks record vs Top 10 by p% in 2023-24: 9-3-2
Flames actually have a better record vs these teams than the Oilers at 8-9-0. The increased games caused by the fact they see both the Canucks and Oilers.
Long story is, as a Canucks fan, I'm fine with top ten teams. More of those, please.

I guess the question we need to ask is, "Does regular season record against top ten teams have any kind of significance come playoff time?".
I just did a quick look at the finalists from last season.
Oilers went 3-1 vs Vegas in the reg season.
Panthers went 1-3 vs Toronto and 1-2 vs Carolina.
You know which teams won these series.
Vegas was 10W-14L against top ten teams during the 22/23 regular season.
Florida was 8W-19L.
Last year showed zero correlation between regular season Win % vs top ten teams and playoff success for the finalists.
There is no real smoking gun stat for predicting playoff success.
Points % and Expected Goals For % are currently the most accurate, but far from being a slam dunk.
Corsi used to be the best predictor, but has fallen off consistently since it became a main focus of conversation.
I got the data from this article:
https://chacemccallum.substack.com/p...s%20been%20xG.
I think in general its best to use the largest sample sizes possible, and breaking the regular season results into smaller segments is going to do more harm than good.

The only stat that matters is that Edmonton is no good.
