So you want him now? Pay up, especially when you want the Flames to retain. Conroy is right to demand a lot, and I think he is comfortable standing pat if nobody forces their hand with a great offer. Personally, I'd absolutely love the Devils to step up (I still think Calgary and New Jersey are a trade match made in heaven), but I won't lose sleep if it doesn't happen. The Flames could easily find a great trade in the offseason too.
I think with Marky, teams are desperate right now. Good chance someone overpays, you don't get that with goalies.

The offseason we probably don't get much, or even trade him.

A trade can be a win for both sides. This isn't a zero sum game.

Yeah. I don’t think Jersey is sweating the Sharangovich trade.

Pretty sure they think getting a 30 goal scorer for a guy they had a hard time qualifying is a win for them also

We have a top goaltender in the league right now and we have a prospect goaltender with good potential developing. That seems like nice things…

Not if they miss the playoffs. Toffoli is a UFA and they also gave up a pick

It definitely has the potential for disaster, one of two ways for NJ:

1. They miss the playoffs and Toffoli walks. NJ just gave up a bunch of futures for nothing.

2. They re-sign, soon to be 32 year old, Toffoli to a big contract, and he sucks.

Conroy did very well here.

They didn't see Sharangovich in the long term plans and if they want to they can probably sell Toffoli for a 2nd+ this deadline. I think it is about the same as Flames fans getting hung up on Valimaki and Ruzicka.

I was wrong about the Toffoli trade, it’s been great for us

But it’s silly to suggest it was such a fleecing that it would affect future deals. NJ basically got exactly what they were wanting

Disaster is way overstated lol. It is basically an early deadline trade. Sharangovich is a good pick up but he is one year out from being an UFA himself and is a middle six guy on a playoff team.

LOL its not like NJ is all of a sudden surprised that Toffoli is going to be a UFA.

they made their gamble, they knew what they were doing.

In regards to LA I wonder if the piece they try and dangle for Markstrom is PLD. He has not had a good go of it in LA so far and has been relagated to the 4th line C. 25 years old, 8 more years at 8.5M AAV. He has no trade protection in his contract. Now that is is either going to be a bad contract on too much term or if he plays to his actual abilities a home run for a #1 C. I have heard him and Doughty don't like eachother and there is friction between the two as well. Then again Doughty is rounding the home stretch of his career and Kopitar is not getting any younger so maybe LA shows patience with him there. This is just me speculating btw, I have heard nothing in regards to an LA offer for Marky.

Conroy would destroy the team for 7 years if he did that. Having PLD and Huby contacts would suck so bad. PLD is an unproductive cancer of a player.

Please no PLD. We should avoid that contract and that particular element in the locker room. If Blake dangles him as a return for Markstrom, I hope Connie tees it up and punts that offer into the outer rims of Alpha Centauri.

Too risky. Too much stink around PLD. From 30,000 feet he reeks of problem child tendencies. At the very least I think it’s fair to say he’s high maintenance.

Only way I take PLD is if Huberdeau goes the other way and the Flames buy out PLD

PLD didn't want to play in Columbus or Winnipeg, and isn't exactly setting the world on fire in L.A. I'd stay far away from him.
