How windy is Alpine Park? Based on its location it looks like it could get very windy up there
I can't say for sure because I haven't spent a lot of time up in that area. However, I live nearby (on the other side of Fish Creek Park) and we don't experience a lot of wind activity around here relative to other parts of the city.
Last week City Council approved the land use change for the Osteria site in Kensington to allow for a building up to 16 storeys. Overnight Monday a fire broke out on the site and it sounds like the building is a lost cause now.

Can someone take a second and remind me of the issues with this? I know that years ago a developer wanted to put a 12 story building there and that was rejected. Then they got approval for the 16 story and now it's burned down. I can't remember the controversy and such though.
I don't get it, yes maybe someone wants the insurance payout but wouldn't the developers have had to pay out the landlords/tenants to demolish the building to put up the 16 story condo anyway? Doesn't this just accelerate that?

I'm no commercial leasing agent but is there an act of god clause that gets them out of that issue?

They are basically Calgary's version of the Jersey Shore cast who wishes and acts as if they are the Sopranos cast.

I'm sure the insurance company is totally not going to be suspicious about that one...
As a card-carrying cynic I may have missed my calling as an insurance adjuster.
"Come on guys! Seriously? I can still see Eminem and Dr. Dre with a can of gas and a pack of matches standing next to the burned down house building. Don't think I've forgotten about you!"
