I’d give Reilly five games because you just can’t do dangerous crap like that. I’d also give Grieg one game for being a goof.

Greig already got a crosscheck to the head for being a goof. Does he need to be suspended, too?

Leaning towards the veteran player being in the right here. Rielly isn’t dirty or a guy looking to start stuff for no reason. He’s an elite defenseman with ~800 games
A rookie showboating when his team is in the bottom 5? Because he scored on AN EMPTY NET? Ya cross check that guy in the face

Probably not. But if guys who pull stunts like that had to answer to the league they might think twice about doing it and not end up getting cross checked in the head. It’s really for their own good.

Well, then, let's suspend players for legal hits, too, because there are guys like Caveman Kassian who will hack them up for doing it.
In fact, let's just suspend all the players all the time. Then nobody will ever try to injure another player, and the game will be perfect.

Wow ... proof read that before hitting submit? Or green text?
I get it's showboating.
I get that the Leafs would be frustrated by it.
I could see a scrum with the player.
But a cross check to the head or face isn't over the line?
What is wrong with some of you?

Code or no code . Try some self control. Certain players acting like they do is like daring DOPS to actually make someone accountable for his selfishness and stupidity.
They truly need to review how DOPS operates and maybe instead of goons manning the position hire an ex lady Byng winner
That'll teach class, self control .....a Paul Kariya type player who instead of coming back and trying to injur Steven's comes back and scores one of the greatest goals I've ever witnessed as a fan.
No one remembers it because it wasn't dirty though

I think Greig gets a minimum of five games for humiliating the Leafs.
Any less and you might see NHL owners questioning why the Leafs are the only team that gets to play on Eastern time during their West coast road trips.

Yeah crosscheck to the head is no beuno in any circumstance.
Love when there's a bit of pizzaz in the NHL like Greig showed.
Definitely deserved a response just not that response.
If Reilly had an appropriate level of response it would have been an amazing sequence between rival clubs.

That slap shot was hilarious and probably the highlight of the season for Sens fans. The Leafs must be so fragile for Reilly to respond like that. They were just embarrassed against their rival on HNIC, and instead of taking a number and using it for motivation, he decides to embarrass them further.

I think we all remember that. Sadly Kariya has no memory of it though. All the more reason he would be motivated by protecting the players, as he was never protected.

Its alarming how many people casually and confidently condone assaulting someone.
Hockey is still part of the real world folks. Laws apply

Because a scrum isn’t remotely a deterrent?
“Oh no please don’t SCRUM me”
Read the replies in the thread where Kesler did the same thing and got fed about 15 punches. The hypocrisy is hilarious

I’m not sure if you include me in that, but in no way do I condone what Reilly did. He deserves full repercussion for what he did. My view was that I don’t care for what Grieg did either, albeit a far lesser offense. I like stuff like lacrosse and Michigan goals. They’re entertaining. What Grieg did though was provocative and not in the spirit of good sportsmanship IMO.
