Was 100x better than pulling a Patrick Stefan!

If Zary had done that here at the Dome vs the Oilers we would all be loving it.
If a flames player rips an empty net breakaway clapper against the oilers we love it. Cause it’s taunting them.

If an oilers player does the same against the flames we want revenge.

It can work both ways. Why some people (not you specifically BTW) can’t grasp this is beyond me lol.

Anyways I love the whole thing (besides the cross check to the chops). More heated provincial rivals are good for the game.

If Domi did the same thing and ate wood everyone would be saying he deserved it.

Confront him and mans up? Seriously? Greig plays innocent ##### and it goes no further when 3 other Sens arrive at the scene. Greig should've manned up and scored the empty netter like everyone else does, or manned up when he saw Reilly skating directly towards him with clear intent.

Ridley Greig would beat the absolute piss out of Morgan Rielly. It would not be a fair fight.

yeah you are right, nothing says tough hockey than cross checking a guy in the head and then running away. i have been misinformed all these years. Leaf fans are so sensitive.

Brendan Dillon just got 3 games for hitting a guy crossing the blue line with his head down snd literally just hit him. If Reilly doesn't get at least 10 it's a joke. This is pure intent to injure. Of course parros is a ####ing idiot and who knows where his wheel will land on.

Rielly gets 5 for the head shot (which doesn't really look like it was too devastating).
Greig gets 2 for usnportsmanlike for hotdogging.

All the rest stand around and trash talk.

Done.

Ya Greig was clearly blindsided, he did not see Reilly until the lumber was in his teeth. Not exactly a lot of time to “man up”.

Grieg might not have seen him coming but he knew that his clapper would generate a response… or he’s a clueless kid that doesn’t understand how hockey works. lol

My moneys on him knowing exactly what he was doing.

Give me a break.

Crosschecks to the face happen in the game of hockey, quite frequently if you haven't noticed in all those uninformed years. Trust me, it's tougher than being an 8 goal scorer on a 28th place team hotdogging an empty netter and not even making an attempt to defend himself.

I'm not condoning crosschecks in the face, and Reilly will get suspended. But if someone does this to the Flames, I'd hope someone on the Flames makes him pay somehow.

intentional cross checks to the face are not needed. if this happened to porn stache Matthews, it would be the end of the world for leaf fans.

Ya me too. I don’t believe it was intent on taunting either, just a kid caught up in the gravity of the moment.

And intent or not, now that it happened he is the kind of player who will answer the bell when it rings.

If only the Leafs had Ryan Reeves to discourage these type of shenanigans.

Maybe so, and you'd likely be saying he deserved it.

"Leaf like".. what team Reilly plays for shouldn't matter. It's no more Leaf like than Flame like, that's objectivity.

How would you possibly know if he would be saying that Matthews deserved it in that situation? The NHL is a joke when it comes to player safety, always has been and may always be. This hit is from the dinosaur ages of when the broad street bullies would come into Maple Leaf Gardens and local prosecutors would try to enforce sanity on the ice. Reilly should have the hook thrown at him, I have never ever seen a play like that in the 35+ years I have been watching hockey. Despite your insistence that cross checks to the face happen all the time I doubt you can find much video evidence of it happening at all 3 seconds after the whistle with the player being cross checked being blindsided by the cross check.

“Close” is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that sentence. If you mean in that play a shoulder touched a shoulder a second after the puck goes in after a player shoots the puck into the net after the game ended is close to a cross check to the head 3 seconds after the puck goes in when the game is still happening I guess so.

Huh? It’s a similar situation and play with a violent response. Who said anything about the cross check being the same? Also did you not watch the part where Wideman starts wailing on him?

Is anyone actually complaining about the scrum that happened after Greig scored his goal? I may have missed something but the complaint is about the cross check. So showing a scrum and saying it is the same as a cross check seems like two completely different situation.
