Well that was one of the most ridiculous empty netters I’ve ever seen… but the reaction better draw a suspension.

I always have to laugh at the NHL. Want to change from how things used to be, but constantly consult 60 year old ex NHLers for their opinions.

Kraken lost. Flames could really use a Coyotes win over Preds tonight. Arizona up 4-2 early in third.

Could really use an Oilers win(gross) over the kings.

Kings are in a free fall. I don’t think both wild card spots are off the table for the flames.

I'd be perfectly fine with a Kings win tonight.

Hunter hit Turgeon about 2 seconds after he scored, hit him high at the head level. Rielly hit Grieg 2 seconds after he scored, hit him high at the head.

The big difference is that Grieg was showboating a little on an empty net goal, while Turgeon was just celebrating a nice goal.

I am not saying Greig deserved that, but a clapper like that on the empty net was trolling. It doesn't justify Reilly's reaction.

Then what exactly is the point of bringing it up?

Who cares if he cranked it into the empty net?

Well, Reilly obviously cared. I don't think Grieg was unaware that what he was going to do would get a reaction of some kind. In the Hunter/Turgeon incident, I don't think Turgeon did anything to taunt Hunter.

Preds pull off the comeback in OT.

That was the worst case scenario from that game. Preds leap frog the Flames.

Greig wasn’t taunting Reilly either, he was minding his own business.

I have seen guys take hard snap shots into an empty net, maybe those are a half taunt? I have never ever heard of someone getting drilled like that for shooting the puck too hard into an empty net.

Two things can be true at once:

-Reilly’s crosscheck was brutal and deserves a lengthy suspension

-Greig ripping a slap shot top shelf on a clear breakaway on an empty net with 5 seconds left is classless

Anyone who has played the game or watched the game would be upset if that happened against their team.

Putting sass like that into an easy empty net is taunting.

Like I said, it doesn't warrant the reaction Reilly had. I would also agree that it's dumb from an ordinary normie perspective. Most things that cause physical altercations on the ice make no sense at the street level.

Anyway, I was just pointing out the different scenarios between the Hunter and Reilly situations, because someone made the comparison.
