Hah - I also thought about that.

Definitely more coaches pulling earlier these days, and advanced game modelling says it should happen even earlier yet.

But Roy didn't pull his goalie down 2 goals on the PP with 6 minutes left. That really should be a no brainer for anyone.

Had he scored Roy might have jumped the boards and fought him

Said it before, the Flames last steak ended vs the Leafs, a game they had in control for a while.
Pospisil gets hurt that game.

Then vs Oilers, another good game, and the fluke goal against was decider.
The the Blues, in full control but lose that at the end.

Deflating, especially three in a row where they play as good or better then opponent and lose.
Those games go the other way and probably don't stink it up vs CLB. Now 4 more wins.

Tldr, last 11 games, with the way they played, they could be 10-1, and the 1 L was a result of 3 crushing losses after having leads in those games.

Huberdeau is up to 31 points now. At a point this season it honestly seemed like he wouldn’t hit 30.

Confidence and having teammates that like being here make a difference. Being happy with the players who surround you helps build confidence again.

Ehhh....I actually think from a different school of thought on that one.

If you're DESPERATE...okay. But generally the benefit of the powerplay is space. If you pull the goalie you negate that advantage, sure, you have more people to pass to...more traffic, that advantage depends on the makeup of your team.

And also...that ability to ice the puck to an empty net? Thats playing with fire.

Yeah, good points. The Flames have been playing the right way for some time now.

Yeah I never liked 6 on 4.

You want to stretch the ice and make the killers chase. If you create small spaces they don’t have to chase as hard, now you can use your sticks more actively.

I have my concerns.

Are we just playing good enough to miss by a few points, lose a good draft pick and continue the same medicraty as always?

Or do we move a couple players and shoot for a spot and take it chances.

14 even strength goals by Weegar ties him with Zadorov for the most by a Flames defenceman since the days of AL MacInnis. Giordano did have 14 ES and SHG in his Vezina season, but 4 of those were shorthanded. He has 11 ESG in the 15-16 season when he had 21 he had 11 as well as one other year. Dion Phaneuf got most of his on the PP never exceeding 10 ES goals.
