I just realized the Greasers have a B2B Friday/Saturday!. However will they manage? Oh right, Ducks and Kings. Such lucky scheduling.

Over on the HF boards tonight, the Coiler fans are whining about how they "need to start diving" to draw PP's "like all those other teams do against us.", how they "never get more than 2 PP's/game" and how every other team always "lays down against any team not us, but shows up and plays us like it's their Stanley Cup". Also how McDiver is "too stupid or too good to dive" to draw PP's...

Rough. Flames only had Vegas & Colorado btb twice earlier in the season.
But that's a long, grueling trip up the i5 for the poor coilers

Disgusting. This mentality in fans is how you get to what you see in soccer. Not a soccer fan at all but I have worked with big time soccer fans who accept diving as “part of the game”. It’s ridiculous. It’s not embarrassing to them that the players they cheer for are diving and whining all the time… it’s “part of the game”. I fear that hockey is approaching that too if it isn’t already at that point. It started with the Canucks in their 2010-2011 season - the worst team of divers I have ever seen in the NHL… and, ever since then, it has become more and more acceptable to fans.
For a fanbase like the oilers who have been given the biggest NHL-franchise welfare cheques of any team in sports history (4 first overall picks in 6 years including a generational offensive player)… to complain about not getting the calls or breaks to go their way… also embarrassing. Not to mention this year having what I consider to be one of the easiest regular season schedules I can ever remember.
They also really lucked out and had a lot of things line up for them on their win streak… every time I looked at who they were going to be playing during that streak it was either a bottom-feeder of a team or a playoff team that was in the midst of a bad losing streak. Virtually every time. Can annyone name a team that was playing their best hockey of the season leading up to facing Edmonton during that streak? Maybe Calgary? And they are not a playoff team so I can’t say that counts. Obviously, you have to win the games and it’s still an impressive run, but I really think everything that could come together for them did on that run of games.

E=NG, but the Oilers are far from the most profitable NHL team. The Leafs, Habs, and Rangers all leave them in the dust.

I heard that Connor Brown is available for trade. Maybe he could help the Oilers.

Forbes says they are in 7th but that's "most valuable" which I guess might be different from "most profitable".
Maybe the thought is that the Oilers make more profit but you still discount value because, you know, they are in Edmonton.

Forbes' numbers have pretty consistently shown that the Leafs, Habs, and Rangers, taken together, make about half of the league's total operating profits. The other Original Six teams, plus L.A., take the lion's share of the rest.
Edmonton may have a rich owner and a high-priced barn, but it's still a small Canadian market.

This is more of an off-topic politics comment, but it is worth highlighting that only the CBC is reporting on the “Katz OEG reneging on $5 million in Boyle Centre funding” story (so far).
Radio silence from Edmonton Journal (National Post), CTV Edmonton, Global Edmonton.
Just something to remember for the "Defund the CBC" crowd…
I’ll eat my words if the Boyle Centre has been egregiously in the wrong or Dave Staples writes a scathing opinion column against the OEG, but I’m not holding my breath.

Accusing a charity of "not trying hard enough" to raise money? Pretty Scroogey.
They didn't tap their corporate pals?

Glad that it is now out in the open and the scumbaggery is on display for all to see.
Public funds going to private ventures hardly ever turns out well. See Feds providing funds for pandemic to get tents, PPE etc.
Seems to me that when the Bow (that circular building in YYC...I think that's its name) was built, public funds went to it to provide an indigenous art museum which...conveniently...somehow....got....disappear ed as well.
I know someone who works at Boyle and the staff are not happy about their clients getting booted so the Ice Palace can look "pretty" all the time for Darryl and his buddies. And the sweatpants crowd.

Not aware of anything like that. Possibly getting confused with how the York building on the south block was taken apart and "promised" to be incorporated into a new building there that could have had a cultural component.

On a late Friday night, that drive from the Pond to their hotel @ LA Live could take an hour!
Add in check-in time, they might not get to bed till 1am…
