How long does it take to go from being on a "heater" to being considered a good team? I think that this also shows the parity in the NHL where there are 5-10 teams with a reasonable chance of winning it this year.

i don't go that far... but when having friends over to watch a game i have been known to have the opposition's jersey laying on the floor by the door so we can literally walk all over the competition.

i've also been known to make certain foods when playing certain teams...
wings when playing detroit
bison burgers when playing the sabres
frogs legs when playing the habs
i did shark steaks years ago when the flames met the sharks in the playoffs
i like playing the leafs.... those maple cookies from superstore are delicious!
i usually make whale shaped cookies when playing the canucks

ah good times!

Do you eat a politician when the Senators are playing?

That might actually do some good in the world. Give it a try!

You can eat Chinese food from Edmonton when playing Arizona.

I think they are the opposite of what the Flames were last year. Last year the flames would throw everything at the net, this year it looks like the Canucks pass it around a tonne and pick just the right time to take their shot. Seem to have a lot more patience and the skill guys to do it. Lots of slap passes that end up in goals.

They had a lot of stats at the start of the year where it looked like luck was going their way significantly.

They are the 21-22 Flames right now who have a coach who is a lock for the Jack Adams and their star players look like star players. They even have a superstar pending RFA who is one year away from UFA who won’t talk extension.

Sure I guess that could be the case. But the Flames should have beat the Oilers that year and would have if injuries didn't take out Tkachuk. There are a bunch of things that could happen but frankly I think that both teams were really good. That Flames team was a contender and it was disappointing how they weren't able to keep the band together to give it another run.

Sakic was never an option though.

I agree if Markstrom didn’t get the yips they win the series and the Treliving Flames were always plagued by wild inconsistency year over year working their way from bubble team-bottom feeder to top team-bubble team.

It will be interesting to see what happens in Van this summer. There is cap space and 2 key RFA’s to keep. If they figure out a way to keep Lindy they should be able to remain near the top of the west but it will be interesting to see if this year is a one off or sign of things to come?

My dim recollection was that it was possible.

EDIT: Sakic was an RFA that year and could have been offer sheeted. I gather NYR did offer sheet him. The Avs matched. But I suppose there's always a price big enough to win those.

The guys on 650 explore potentially trying Garland with Lindholm instead of the current lines as set out (Garland is on line 3).

This is being talked about because Joshua is hurt. The 3st line won't be together for a bit.
