Yeah, EDM needs to really pay through the nose if they want Tanev.

Seems like this will happen sooooooon.
Friedman speculates the Leafs don’t want to trade their 1st “for one player”.

…Flames going to get a 1st + for Tanev + forward “X”?

Tanev and... Kadri? Treliving's last major acquisition in Calgary, and Kadri has been playing great. Probably not though. I wonder who they are really looking at.

The Leafs are operating with $34,999 in available cap space according to CapFriendly, and that's after getting $14.4 million in LTIR relief. All the retention in the world won't give them room for Tanev + a forward unless there is a significant cap dump coming back.

Leafs don't have much cap space so to acquire him probably has to be Brodie or Bertuzzi coming back as a contract makeweight. Feels like the leafs would have to pay a major price for Tanev and Mang with a cap dump coming back.

Do the leafs have cap room to take back a forward? Not sure who at forward the leafs would want included that the flames would be willing to trade. Maybe Coleman or Mangiapane? Something like this maybe:
To Toronto:
Tanev (50% retained)
Mangiapane (30% retained)
To Calgary:
2024 1st round pick
Robertson
2024 4th round pick
Liljegren

Would have to be Bertuzzi, Domi, or Klingberg

Reaves and Brodie? Flip em both down the ladder? I don't know. It gets really messy with the Leafs. But I suspect they're the ones that land Tanev.

Those are all Treliving's mistakes, why would Conny help him out? Are their 2025 1st coming our way as well?

It pretty much would have to be dollar in, dollar out. Tanev and Rooney, with 50% retained on both, would be $2.9 million. Reaves makes less than half of that, so the cap dump would have to be bigger.

Already traded to Chicago.

Strange, everything I have heard from the Toronto market is they won't pay the asking price for Tanev.
