You cool with Hamas governing Palestinians even in peace with Israel? You cool with that? And if so why?
|
If Israel doesn't bother the Palestinians and can live peacefully with them, then frankly it's none of my business who they elect. Do I care who governs Austria or Cambodia? Not really.
In the same way, if hamas isn't launching rockets at Israel, why does it matter to you who is running the show there? There are more repressive regimes in the region and around the world than Hamas that don't seem to bother anyone.
Edit: to answer your question. No, I don't like Hamas. I'm not ok with them running Gaza. But I also don't live there and I recognize that I shouldn't have a say in Palestinian politics.
Give them a better alternative and they'll more likely than not, chose that reality.

Ok, thanks for your answer. I don’t think Hamas has any ability to stay peaceful but I respect your answer

Iran would never admit to it, but I also don’t think it’s a completely far fetched conspiracy theory.
Here’s a source
https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-eas...ning-bbe07b25#
Quote:
Iranian security officials helped plan Hamas’s Saturday surprise attack on Israel and gave the green light for the assault at a meeting in Beirut last Monday, according to senior members of Hamas and Hezbollah, another Iran-backed militant group.
|
Now mind you, I also found this, stating the opposite:
https://amp.theguardian.com/world/20...raeli-military
Quote:
The Israeli military has said there is no concrete evidence of Iranian involvement in the Hamas attack from Gaza, after denials issued by the Iranian foreign ministry.

Iran is a problem and will continue to be a problem for Middle East peace.

And your takeaway was Jews are bad? I don't wish genocide, nor do any of my cousins. However, they want to be safe, and their government is going about doing that.

Did you gloss over the part where I said I love her. She is my family. I love my sister in law, I feel her pain and anxiety. I also think she would press a button that kills every Palestinian if she were given the option.

I am not going to lie, Nage Waza's post really bothers me ( enough to triple post score apparently).
Its not because they called me an antisemite, rather it is because their post is emblematic of the large problem.
When you are no longer able to sympathize with people you disagree with, if you can no longer understand their perspective, than all humanity is lost.

You used an anecdotal story about a Jewish person you know to try and claim Israel and Jews want to commit genocide. Several posters have done this using a token Jewish friend to try and make an example of how Jews think. If someone did the opposite and referenced their Palestinian or Muslim friend as an example that Muslims want to genocide Jews they would be labeled Islamophobic. No one cares about your Jewish sister in law. Is she the spokesperson for every Jew and Israeli? Does she lead a political party in Israel? Does she have any power whatsoever? No. So who cares

This is a well made point. I will maistain that the perspectives of individuals is still significant as ideas never exist in a vacuum.
Still I should have stressed that's hers is one of millions of perspectives. And that others no doubt believe very differently.

That’s a fair response , as long as you know all Jews/Israelis don’t think that way. I’ve been in Jewish communities my whole life, I’ve met very few Jews who did not believe the Palestinians deserve a state. I’ve also been part of reform communities so opinions differ drastically depending on demographic.

I think it was well explained why I wrote that and see now that you can see both perspectives.
Israel is many people, including Jews, Muslims and Christians. Lots of points of view. I don’t think a certain way because of my background. With that said, you can speak freely in Israel, as a jew or anyone else, and be safe.
As the other poster mentioned, replace Jew with any other minority and you can see why you got such feedback.

He got the feedback because you throw the term around loosely.

You really lost your way, what a shame.
He got feedback because he said basically that he knew a jew thus all jews must have that negative trait. He also followed up and seems to have realized what he said. But you can’t.
Only one completely blinded by their side would post as you have. It really is pathetic, especially when the comment was made against jews.
