Do you believe in Ghosts?

I have never exprienced any supernatural phenomenon myself, and I don't like to believe in ghost or psychics even. but I was having a discussion with my friends and.... well... I'll tell you their stories

My friend is native and their culture believes heavily in spirtual realms and ghosts, good and bad, my friend however, was a non believer. He says he was visiting his uncle's family who lived in a trailer, the windows of his trailer rise to approximately 7ft + in height. The entire family was up late catching up on old times when all of a sudden the room went cold and everones hair stood up- they looked out the window at there was a man staring at them, the family stood and watched horrified, the man than began to circle the trailer and continued to do so for a couple minutes.

on to my other friend, she says almost every morning she wakes up around 3:00 am with an intense feeling of fear and feels as if someone is watching her from her doorway. My friend is Christian and she says that 3:00 am is the time ghost/bad spirits are allowed to wander.

now neither one of these people are liars. I'm not sure what to believe. What do you think?

only one story. Shortly after my husband's mother died, he came home off an afternoon shift and went into our son's room to check on him. He was looking at him in his crib and whispered that he wished she could see him. She used to collect music boxes and we had one in his room. After he said that the music box played a few notes. This happened about 17 years ago, and he still gets a chill talking about it.

I have never had any experiences with ghosts, but the stories always send chills down my spine. Especially if it is a local story or someone you know.

It's very interesting how people have very real experiences of spooky encounters. Do I believe these people are lying? Well, some of them might be, but I think science can validate that what these people are experiencing is very real.

One of the most reported sensations in a supposed haunted place is the feeling of being watched or the feeling of dread. Sometimes, this feeling is accompanied by hair standing at the back of your neck, or cold spots. It's also interesting that some of these places have very unnarutal high levels of electromagnetic activity. I believe there have been many studies that have shown that people who live close to power lines, areas of high level of unshielded cables, and such have experienced these feelings.

There's also a lot of support with regards to certain frequencies or vibrations causing a person to feel ill or see things.

There may be ghosts.. the mind is also very powerful and can make a person believe they are hearing and seeing things that aren't really there. Memories also aren't very reliable and it's quite easy to "reprogram" them. Some people have a vested interest in there being ghosts and will outright lie about it.

So there may be ghosts, but until there's some real evidence for them there's no reason to think they exist.

My mother inlaw had a brother who drowned back in the 60's. The story was that him and his friends entered some forbidden cave on one of the Queen Charlotte Islands that apparently only the Schaman for the local tribes was permitted to go to. I think there was 4 of them who entered the cave and they were all about 19 at the time. Within a year all 4 of them had died in various separate accidents. So coincidence....or not? I don't know, but it makes me wonder.

I don’t believe in ghost but this story has always kind of chilled my bones, my Grandmother was about 30 years old and was good friends with her next door neighbor who at the time was about the same age, they both had children about the same age

One day the next door neighbor’s little daughter who was about 5 years old showed up at my grandmothers door after she has gotten home from school, my grandmother told me she had the most terrified look in her face and was white as a ghost but wasn’t crying

She told my grandmother that she couldn’t get in her house because when she went to touch the doorknob it was hot and it burned her, when my grandmother went to walk her over to her house, she wouldn’t go anywhere near the house she said she could feel something scary and evil…my grandmother went to open the door but it was locked which was strange because it never was locked, she tried the back patio door but it was locked, so she went and grabbed her spare key and walked into the front door…she walk in to see her friend had hung herself…my grandmother still claims that there was no way the little girl could have gotten into the house to see what had happened

I don't believe in ghosts but I do believe that there is something that is causing people to experience what they are. That being said.

The details of this are hazy but, a long while ago my friend was telling me about one time when he and his girlfriend were driving home at night on one of the small non lighted highways that Texas has. They were driving along and his girlfriend saw a person on the side of the road. For some reason I can't remember they turned around to drive back by where they saw the person. Well when they got to that area the person ran out in front of his truck and he had to practically swerve off the road to miss the person. He also said that what ever it was had no face.

I take this with a grain of salt as it was at night on a deserted highway, and I remember him saying it was on a halloween night.

I can't say I believe ghosts exist, but I find the topic pretty interesting.

Similar story to whitemud road in Edmonton but it's a girl and apparently if you stop to pick her up she claws out your face. To be honest I dont believe the highway stories.

Anytime I have insomnia I listen to that show. Some interesting stuff gets talked about. Love the call in part where listeners talk about their experiences.

That is creepy.

I don't go in for this ghost business myself but those kind of stories are pretty cool. Old-timey stories from grandmas are my favorite because things were much scarier when everything was in black and white.

My granny once was shutting the curtains at the cabin when she found herself face to face with an ugly old man peering in the window. He was just inches away looking right at her. She went wild and rushed out of the room hollering about an ugly old man looking in on her. Seconds later my dad and uncle (heavy wrench in hand) were out there looking for this character and they could find no trace of him. No footprints, no disturbed bushes, nobody running away. So they had granny look through the window again and she saw the scary old man but she could not disagree when it was explained to her that the "scary old man" had been her own reflection in the window.

3am, also known as the "Witching Hour" is believed to be a mockery of the time of Christ's death on the cross, which is believed to have been at 3pm. That's why experiences with the supernatural at this time are associated with evil spirits.

I have never been much of a believer of the supernatural but I have experienced some things that make me consider the possibility.

One of the most creepy stories I have heard from someone close to me was something that happened to my grandma and my mom many years ago during my great grandmother's wake.

Back home, the wakes go all night. After midnight, my mom and grandma were the only ones left at my great grandmother's house. They planned to go home once grandma's brother was supposed to come back from work so that my mom and grandma could go home to shower and get ready for the funeral. Throughout the night they kept hearing the sound of deep moaning. Being the only ones the house they were scared but didn't think too much of it, so they just kept on praying. At around 5 or 6am, they heard the sound of the shower. After about ten minutes, the shower stopped and they heard the sound of a bedroom door being closed. My grandma got up and went to tell her brother that they were going to be leaving soon. When she got to the hallway she noticed that the wet footsteps led from the bathroom to her mom's room and not to her brother's. She knocked on the door calling out her brother's name but no one answered. She opened the door and in an eerily calm way she called my mom to come into the room. When my mom got there she saw the footsteps leading up to my great grandmother's bed where a wet towel lay.
I have always been one to have to experienced something before I can believe in it, but this having happened to my mom gives me the creeps.

I don't think you can believe in ghosts until you actually see one and feel what a spirit is capable of and how they affect your senses and perception.

Here's my story.

I am agnostic and my feelings about ghosts were the same as my thoughts on religion.

I have a friend whom him and his girlfriend moved into a house that was owned by an older black woman who had a daughter who had since moved out and she was looking to downsize. The old woman's husband had passed fairly recently.

They told stories of things being really strange in the house. Footsteps in the hallway, one of those big, round wicker chairs was turned around when they got home and was facing a window and so on. They had trouble with their TV in the bedroom. It would turn on in the middle of the night and the volume would go all the way up. The remote would not turn it off nor would the power button on the front and the TV would have to be unplugged. Easily explainable you say. They've had two other TVs that did the same as well.

My girlfriend and I were house sitting one weekend there and I was laying on the couch and my girlfriend was in bed. I was overcome by a weird sensation of cool but somehow warm going through me. Calming to say the least. I stand up and as I do I hear footsteps in the hall but without looking, I KNOW it is not my girlfriend. When I turn around to look, I see him for a split second and then he's gone.

Now let me tell you, I get scared at everything paranormal. I am 27 and will change the channel if a horror movie comercial comes on while I am watching TV. I was fine. I was almost happy to see him there. Never felt like that before.

Recently, my friends ripped up all the carpeting to put down laminate flooring and they found crucifixes all over the place under the carpet and in a closet, they found a pendant with a picture of the couples daughter.

A few days after they finished the flooring, the daughter shows up at their door unannounced to see how they are doing and how the house was. She had never done that before. My buddy's girlfriend gives her the pendant and crucifixes and politely tells her that her father is still in the house. The daughter claims that it was impossible as they are Jehovah's Witnesses.

There hasn't been anything unusual since she showed up. It's almost as though he was waiting for her.

I have had multiple experiences myself.

I made friends with the old couple across the hall from me in my old apartment building. They moved to a house right next to D's daughter. D's son-in-law's mother passed away. After this happened there were a bunch of us sitting in D's living room. All of a sudden I get this creepy feeling, the hair on my neck starts standing up. I tried to ignore the feeling, but it only got stronger. Finally I mention something. D's granddaughter runs next door to talk to her Dad thinking it's her other grandmother in the room with us. Her Dad phones his sister in Edmonton, and the feeling went away. The son-in-law's sister in Edmonton was having trouble emotionally dealing with the funeral and arrangements and just needed a shoulder.

I know that there is a lot of connections and can be confusing, but it was really creepy.

D and her husband have both since passed away, and have both visited me after the fact.

A friend of mine took a tape recorder with her and bunch of friends and stayed at the Myrtles Plantation http://www.myrtlesplantation.com one of the most haunted places in the US.

Anyway, I am not much of a believer, but the voices heard on the tape made me change my mind. Everything from a little girl asking them to play with her, to a loud booming telling them to get out of the house. It's pretty creepy when you actually hear the voices.

That being said, I don't go around being all freaked out about ghosts or anything. But I beleive they are among us.
