Do you expect anything else? They have to dodge or not answer to protect the case and everyone knows that. I was frustrated with each media member asking basically the same question or a question they 100% knew was going to get a non answer, It’s like they all wanted to be able to write “I asked a specific question and was told they couldn’t comment, look how awesome of a reporter I am.”

I thought DS Dann and Chief Truong did a great job trying to answer what they could while keeping the integrity of the case. My own sense was there have been lots of lessons learned by the department, and likely lots of those lessons should be shared with all police forces when they can. The chief seemed genuine with his emotion and care for the victim. As it should be.

The impression that I got was that LPS thought Hockey Canada had taken care of this with a stack of cash and that they werent going to have to do the actual work.

I dont think Cops are incompetent, but its human nature to not waste your time or energy on something that you think is done.

They thought Hockey Canada bought her off and case = closed.

LPS did not consider the concept of 'buying off a victim' that it kinda depends where that money comes from.

Average Canadian family's annual hockey fees, sponsorships, taxpayer money...it becomes problematic.

Yeah, I doubt they even completed the investigation when it was closed. They saw that the victim got paid a large sum of money and likely assumed that it would come with an NDA and she would no longer cooperate as part of the payment agreement.

The police still should have kept investigating and not assumed anything. Just my take, I don't know why the case was closed.

For those who watched, what is the schedule moving forward? Court proceedings etc.

If gang rapists end up in jail, it opens up the possiblity that their prision time will resemble Harambe's Code.

Oh! But they say it wasn't closed which is *cough* Bull#### *cough*

Hockey Canada paid the girl off and the Cops thought that was that and went on to whatever else.

Its like they dont know that they're not the Metropolitan Police of the Real London. I doubt they're all that busy.

That's a solid move by the league. Players get paid still but the teams bear no responsibility.

Makes sense. Realistically...it wasn't the teams' fault.

Why would the teams have any responsibility?

Fiscally, keeping their respective contracts on the cap.

What were you prodding for?

Misunderstood. Thought you were suggesting the team should have to pay because they knew something about the case, which I don’t believe they did.

pretty funny to see people get mad at this in the Twitter comments, but I can't say I'm surprised.

You could have cut them up into rags and given them to a local auto mechanic. Doesn't Team Canada's rubbish usually get covered in oil stains?
