This is not accurate at all
They are almost certainly getting Florida's pick in that case

I could be wrong but if the Florida pick is in play then the only way they can get the Flames pick is if it is lower up to 11.
If the Florida pick is not in play (they miss playoffs next year) then the pick can be as high as 2 that we lose

You're not wrong. The only way they get our pick is if both Florida and Calgary's picks are in the top 10 (and it's not #1 OA). Otherwise they get the Panthers pick.

Yeah the less stress option is to have a poor season, default the pick to Florida and avoid all the anxiety around here.

Yup, as long as Florida doesn't nose dive next year, we are fine. With how this year has played out for them, they will be fine.

Florida should be just fine next year.
They are only losing Forsling, Montour, Kulikov, OEL and Reinhart as UFA's (unless re-signed)
No biggie lol

I remember 2021 being a draft that wasn't that deep either but 2.5 years later it looks okay.
Benier, McTavish, Johnston, Sillinger, Johnson, Power, Eklund, Hughes, Guenther, Knies, Evans, Clarke, Coronato, Edvinsson, Svozil, Moser, Zellweger, Ufko, Morrow, Stankoven, etc
Maybe not the best draft ever but especially lately there seems to be talent in every draft, you just have to find it.
I'm sure Dallas has no regrets with getting Johnston and Stankoven out of that "weak" draft.
|
You could be right, but a lot of those players have yet to debut or impact, so who knows yet how they turn out? I still remember guys like Brandon Gormley being on the top of prospect lists year after year - until he just wasn't.

In the event they lose those guys hopefully the sign other players with the 28 million in cap space they have.

Yes, they have to sign a 4th line in its entirety, a third line in its entirety and 5 other players, two of whom are top 4 dmen. Definitely not impossible with that much space.

So much smoke around Tanev, sounds like he might move sooner than later?

There is a scenario where the Flames end up with the 11th pick and Florida’s is 25 and in that case the Habs get the 11th pick and the Flames would have the 25th

I think Conroy would be smart enough to realize if we are close to ten to put in an ECHL goalie for the final 7 games if it’s the difference between losing 15 draft positions

I've heard those ECHL goalies can take you to the Stanley Cup. Risky gambit for Conny.

I don't think they are losing any of those. Ekblad probably gets moved would be my bet.

Oh come on already
Let’s get Tanev, Hanifin, Mangiapane and Markström traded so we can get on with arguing about draft picks, line combos and when we should hire Berube
